We loved our stay at La Verrière. It’s tucked away in a secluded area with absolutely breathtaking views. It's an ideal spot to unwind and disconnect. Getting there takes some effort, but it’s well worth it. The property is truly exceptional, and the dinners were outstanding - beautifully prepared and full of local flavor.

How many of us knew that mass produced Rose wines include micro plastics? How many of us knew the cost to the environment and especially our health of the excess of insecticides, pesticides and inorganic fertilisers that 'factory' produced wines rely on for their profits?|Serendipitously staying at La Verriere when the owner of the Chene Bleu brand, Nicole Rolet, was staying gave our small group of friends a Ted Talk quality presentation on the history of this historically important estate and the future of sustainable viniculture; viniculture that has found a balance between very drinkable wines and long term protection of a fragile environment. |Nicole has a compelling story and our brief overnight visit will be repeated next year, for longer as we enjoy the art installations, the impressively restored main buildings and kitchen, and a huge swimming pool which gave a welcome respite from the provencal sun.

We stayed one night but wish we’d booked for longer. A really idyllic location, with amazing views, surrounded by vineyards. It would be perfect for a small wedding or retreat with friends. They have extensive outdoor seating areas and an outdoor BBQ that looked fantastic for a big cookout if you planned ahead. Our room was clean, with comfortable bedding. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast here which was all great. The location is a bit isolated and you will need to GPS to the nearby town of Crestet first, and then follow signs down a 3km narrow paved road to the hotel. We would definitely stay here again. Btw they are also attached to the winery Chêne Bleu. If we had more time we would have arranged for the wine tasting as well.

One of the special places. We had the most wonderful time here and left with beautiful memories. The estate is extensive and managed in partnership with Nature. No harmful pesticides, experiments using bee-produced compounds to keep pests away. This secretive place in the mountainous area is somehow at the forefront of agricultural innovation. The wines are delicious and produced in the most modern facility we had ever seen. Every innovation in wine-making has been integrated into their process. Gravity-fed tanks, automatic temperature controlled fermentation.. They have it all. Our room looked and felt medieval but actually provideed every known modern convenience and luxury. Super comfy bed, cosy sheets, hot shower with great water pressure and fluffy towels. Everything you need from a room and more. Finally, the staff were simply the most wonderful people. As we visited near the end of the season, they were operating a "skeleton crew" of just 2-3 people. But if we didn't ask, we would never have known because they were so efficient and discrete. Katia the house manager looked after us exceptionally well throughout our stay. Her service was personal yet unobtrusive. Guillaume the chef cooked the best meals using seasonal produce grown on the estate and Manon laid out a tasty breakfast every morning. In the winery, Ana gave us an informative tour of the facility and showed us where everything grown on the estate. She introduced us to ask their wines and told the story behind them. If you have the chance, do visit and stay a while. It's unforgettable and, if you are lucky, you will leave with great inspiration and a strong motivation to live more in harmony.

This was a spectacular and very memorable place to stay for our honeymoon – hidden away in the hills behind Crestet, it’s a beautifully appointed getaway and feels properly remote. The room was charming with lovely antique furnishings and very comfortable, and the friendly staff were welcoming and accommodating. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were also nice touches. Great breakfast too with handmade local produce. All in all a very special stay at La Verrière, thoroughly recommended.

La Verriere is a dreamy place. We visited at a perfect time inMid-October when the sun is slanting over the vines, the trees are turning gold, the grape harvest is coming in and the garden is still full of flowers and autumn vegetables. The fully restored ancient villa is comfortable and welcoming with beautifully decorated and luxurious rooms and suites surrounded by gardens and a stunning “infinity” pool. Our service from Gregory and Tibault was personal and friendly and they ensured every detail was perfect and our every need was met. The dining room in a great vaulted stone hall serves a sumptuous breakfast and dinner “table d’hôte” only if reserved. You really should reserve as driving around local villages at night is daunting and La Verriere provides a beautifully presented and delicious 3 course meal from local produce. The chef’s choice for us included fresh organic veggies from the garden and local meats and fish. Of course we also enjoyed the prize-winning Chene Bleu wine from their own vineyard with helpful pairing suggestions and tasting notes. We had a wonderful wine tour and tasting which is must. The vineyard is fully restored from ancient vines in a UNESCO “biosphere “ with a fully modern winery and Adrian was very knowledgeable. we had a crash course in winemaking. Otherwise what to do around LaVerriere except stroll around the gardens, visit the tiny village of Crestet, hike in the surrounding forests, and sun or swim at the pool. We didn’t want to leave. Perfect!

We came to Le Verriere for the view. Most people may only come here for the well-structured wine. We were happily inspired by both the wine and the view. This is not an average bed and breakfast. We found, instead, perfection and precision. Every facet of this renovated 1st millennium structure was amazing to behold. The modern accoutrement like the bed in the Lavande Suite was, bar none, the most comfortable bed my wife and I have ever slept on – I’d like to think our own carefully selected mattress is my favorite in the world, but that is no longer true. Everything about this visit was mind-bending. ||This was a last-minute selection due to bad weather in Chamonix – a fortunate allowance of shoulder season in Europe that we were able to procure a room. We were on holiday in the last week of April. I wanted a place in the hills above the Rhone River to enjoy a few nights of wine tasting in the many nearby famous wineries. A veteran of meta-analysis of online reviews, I quickly poured over the options in the Rhone Valley between Avignon and Lyon. I was searching for a well-received reasonably priced ‘room with a view’. We discovered that and more at Le Verriere. And we never made it to another winery. Chene Bleu was all we ever really needed.||Prior experience in Tuscany had taught us the benefit of driving well off the beaten path – up and over – narrow mountain roads with rare and slow oncoming traffic – requiring careful negotiation in narrow passages. How very European. Love that...||Once at the estate, we were warmly greeted by Marlene – a very knowledgeable and accommodating concierge who showed us to our amazing Lavande Suite overlooking the vineyards and the mountains to the south. She arranged for our dinner in their rustic amazingly renovated comfortable cave-like dining room – sublime. And gave us our first glass of their famous Rose. We met the very accommodating owner, Nicole – who warmly greeted us and showed us the house and grounds – telling us their

Three nights in June. A long winding road to get there, but worth the drive ! What a view, what a location ... and the whole "project" is a tribute to good taste. We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Rolet - who gave us a warm welcome. Our room (Abeille) was superb, the pool is wonderful, lots of space and corners of privacy. In view of the access road, we decided to take advantage of the Table d'Hôtes ... what a delight. We happily decided to stay and have dinner there both other nights. The setting is exceptional, the food (chef Victor and Eric ... his sous-chef, discrete, humble ... very talented as well) was very good. The whole staff was great (Gregory took particularly good care of us - seemed to guess what our possible request was likely to be), Thibaut, Emma who gave an enthusiastic tasting and tour of the chai ... all of it perfect.
