The toilets were filthy, and there was a bad smell lingering in the room throughout our stay. The slanted, extremely low ceiling was a nightmare—both my son and I hit our heads multiple times. The room was on the 5th floor with no elevator, which made it a total hassle to get to, especially for a ski vacation. On top of that, there was a complete lack of storage space, and there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, making it even more inconvenient. It was far from enjoyable.
4.5 stars overall. We enjoyed it very much. The kids loved it. Great location right by the cable car. And lunch on the terrace in the sunshine was super nice.
23-30th March 2013 - Third visit to this all inclusive hotel - which I would throughly recommend for families with lots of hungry kids. Short (ish) transfer from Chambery airport. Check-in: room keys, cashless payment card, lift passes and ski hire (across the lobby) all done in less than 45 minutes. Piste a few steps from the locker room. Food & wine (as mentioned in other posts) excellent. Terrance for BBQ lunch brilliant when the weather is good. ||||Only two downsides - avoid the upper floors of the annex building (e.g. rooms S50/51) unless you're ok with a long walk - which can be tiresome if the kids forget something. More an issue in our opinion is the disappointing lounge area - to gather after skiing and after meals. If you are looking for the traditional lounge with open fires and lots of comfy armchairs this isn't the place for you. ||||Great family ski hotel!
First time with the kids on a snow trip. We went for a club as to make our mife easier. It was a great experience. All the people made sure of that. Marie & Margot in the little events, who kept us entertained. Céline was awesome with the kids. Louis was so very kind at the ski rental part of the hotel. Food was very kid oriented, meaning there was always something they'd like but sometimes the chef brought out some amazing stuff. 6h cooked meat on low temperature was fantastic. Really enjoyed this and we'll be going back. 😊
stayed from 14th jan till 21st jan2012, with husband and two teenagers. accommodation good we were all in one room but plenty of space, sofa, flat screen tv and good big bathroom with bath, shower over and two sinks. three great meals a day with good wine, lift passes and ski hire all included in price. great location by 4 man chair lift, ski in, ski out. can return by blue or red run. staff in hotel very friendly and more than happy to help in english when our french failed us, that was often. 2nd time we have stayed here and we will be back next year.
Stayed here with my family for a ski-trip.||On the plus-side: the hotel is located right on the slopes, so access to the skiing area is easy - clip on those skis and slide down to the lift that takes you into the heart of the Valmorel domaine. Also, staff are friendly and helpful, and the size of the rooms is quite decent.||On the down-side, the restaurant is cramped to the point of being claustrofobic when the hotel is busy, the food is a notch below mediocre and the service in the restaurant and behind the buffet-style counters is willing but lacking in experience. Since the hotel works on an all-inclusive basis, it is hard to avoid the restaurant, although towards the end of our stay, we gave up and decided to take our dinner in one of the many decent places in the centre of Valmorel. ||In general, the hotel reminded me of the skiing school trips I took when I was a kid and later a student. Maybe the right choice for families with very young kids, where the advantage of having everything on-site could be a big plus, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone else.
This hotel is just what we expected for a three star hotel. The room was more than big enough for four of us and although it was basic, it was cosy and clean but there was no safe or air con (when it got hot we opened the balcony door to cool the room down - there was also a window over the bunk beds). The bathroom was a really good size with bath and over bath shower.||The food was good and fresh and my husband and I had no complaints and there was also free wine at lunch and dinner. For children it would have been nice however to have an earlier sitting for kids and slightly more child friendly food options on some days.||That said almost every day they served freshly made crepes at the bar to welcome you back off the slopes for a couple of Euros which delighted the children.||But the big pluses for this hotel are:||1 - it is in a fantastic location- you could ski off from just outside the restaurant terrace, which is a few seconds from the Altispace lift at the bottom of the slope the hotel sits on and we could ski right back.||2 - the Ski School (ESF) has a counter in reception so you can book up the ski school without leaving the hotel, the ski instructors came to collect children from outside the hotel's terrace at 9.30am off parents and delivered them back at 12 in time for lunch. If your kids are in children snow village as they are not quite up to going out onto the slopes the hotel staff take them by bus and return them back to the hotel. And their medal presentations at the week were in the hotel saloon.||3 - You can hire all your ski equipment here from just off the reception so you can getting going as soon as your lift passes start.||For families it was definitely hassle free.||As it's not a majorly popular resort as yet for Brits most staff and fellow guests are just French speaking.||But as well as three staff members speaking very good English as I know a little French, I was able to get buy fine in terms of communication. ||The only downside of thi
Just returned from a week of ski in Valmorel. The entire ski area is great, and the ski-in/ski-out access from the hotel is the greatest advantage. Also the ski rental service is very good.||Our rooms were located on the 1st floor of the main building and they were NOT very comfortable (especially beds) - but good enough for a sleep after a busy day of ski. Last but not the least - the food: the breakfast was standard, the lunch and the dinner varied every day - but the quality of the food was also different every day, some days it was perfect, some days it was terrible. ||There are couple of restaurants in the walking distance and couple of ski shops - but nothing else.||All in all, it was a very good ski vacation. But if you're not lucky with the weather - there is not much to do there.
