We were in Corsica for 5 nights and decided to stay outside Calvi in Calenzana. The property is just off the main street in Calenzana and has charmingly decorated rooms and bathrooms. The common space which includes dining and living areas is very charming with beautiful views across the valley to the sea. There is a small outdoor pool and a very friendly dog "Ally"||||The hosts Belenger and Gil are very busy young people who have just had twins, but manage to keep their guests happy and the rooms clean and tidy. There is a communal kitchen with fridge, freezer and tea and coffee makers, with a supply of local cookies on hand all the time.||||Breakfast was very basic, consisting of yogurt , local cookies, and baguette with a wide variety of delicious home made jams. There was always a sugary cereal available for our kids. It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit, cheeses and hardboiled eggs on some days.||||Other than the monotony of the breakfasts, the only other criticism I have is that there was nowhere to hang wet towels and bathing suits - we had to drape them over the communal balcony.||||We were glad we stayed outside of Calvi as we liked the quiet town and also enjoyed the restaurant Chez Michel many times. It's truly excellent and great value too. We would definitely stay at this B&B again if we ever return to this part of Corsica.

We recently returned from two weeks in Corsica. We stayed in three villages in the Northern half of the island. L'Ombre du Clocher was the first place we stayed and it was a perfect introduction to the island and the warmth of its people. Our room was clean, spacious and well-appointed. Most reviewers mention the amazing home made jams and the biscuits from the bakery in town. All were delicious. Calenzana is in an ideal location; close to Calvi and other attractions in La Balagne. All those are superlatives, but the lasting memory is Berengere, the owner. She is so warm and engaging, and patient with our attempts at speaking French. Her English is very good, and she was one of the few English speakers we encountered on the island. We enjoyed talking with her about many topics during our breakfasts. We highly recommend L'Ombre du Clocher and look forward to a return.

A hidden gem! This is really a place to start the GR20. Nice B&B with small pool, close to shops and a bakery that opens early in the morning for last minute supplies before the trekking starts. Nice rooms, quiet, wonderful breakfast with a variety of freshly homemade bread, several kinds of homemade jam, cereals and great coffee - all prepared by wonderful people. A place you will definitely remember the first days of your trekking!

We stayed at "A l'ombre du clocher" 3 nights while on a two week holiday in Corsica. Location is very good for travelling in Calvi Region (about half an hour drive to Calvi). The house was renovated and the rooms are very nice and very clean. Owner Berengere is very welcoming with the guests.

Delightful room, delightful breakfast and delightful hostess. Such a breath of air after an overpriced, plasticky hotel elsewhere in Corsica.

On a séjourné en septembre dernier avec ma femme, et j'aurais dû laisser cet avis bien plus tôt. Bérangère est une personne qu'on a vraiment eu plaisir à connaître, à l'écoute, de bon conseil sur les bonnes adresses du coin, et toujours arrangeante sans qu'on ait besoin de demander deux fois. Les petits déjeuners méritent à eux seuls le détour. On est repartis avec l'impression d'avoir été reçus chez quelqu'un, pas dans un hébergement. 5 étoiles sans hésiter.

On a passé 3 jours entre copines dans cet établissement. Tout était parfait, l'accueil, personne très agréable et de bon conseil, l'endroit, petit village sympa, les petits déjeuners avec du bon pain frais et de très bonnes confitures maison. Si vous ne savez pas où dormir, n'hésitez pas, je recommande.

Après avoir parcouru le GR20, nous avons eu le bonheur de pouvoir passer une nuit au gîte à l'Ombre du Clocher Corse à Calenzana. Nous espérions juste un peu de confort après des jours en montagne mais nous avons eu bien plus ! L'accueil est très agréable, avec un vrai sens de l'hospitalité, et très accommodant (ex: chambre disponible rapidement, petit déjeuner servi en décalé comme nous repartions tôt le lendemain). La maison est très belle, calme, confortable, très bien située dans le village, et la piscine permet de se rafraîchir. Le petit déjeuner est délicieux avec de bons produits locaux. Bref, que dire de plus : un petit paradis !
