We had an excellent stay, and were very pleased with our apartment and Les Terrasses d'Hélios block. The ski-in, ski-out is brilliant, we were lucky to have amazing sunny weather, and kudos to the Flaine piste bashers who kept the slopes in a wonderful condition, and enabled us all to have an amazing time on the slopes. The Hélios facilities are great, and our children enjoyed everything on offer, especially the pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tub! We were very grateful to receive an upgrade to the mountain view, as we all enjoyed it immensely, and would just sit and stare out of the window at what we'd just skied down! Thanks for a lovely stay, Les Terrasses d'Hélios is superb!
We loved our week in Flaine, staying at Les Terrasses d'Hélios. We had a 2 bedroom apartment, both had twin beds that could be pushed together. The apartment had a small kitchenette with a dishwasher, microwave and 4 electric hobs. There was a kettle, filter coffee machine and a Nespresso coffee pod machine and a large fridge.|The living room was large with a big balcony having beautiful views across to Flaine and Les Grandes Platières. The living room also had a pull-out sofa bed, TV had various European streaming services. ||There was a separate shower and separate toilet and the main bedroom has an adjoining bathroom and toilet, both had towel radiators. ||The inside pool, sauna and steam room are free and great. The outside jacuzzi tub was warm but not hot, however the views of the surrounding mountains when sat in the tub were spectacular.|Whilst the hotel is slightly out of Flaine centre its is serviced by the navette and once that stops the hotel has a free minibus which operates from 18:30 to midnight - just call the driver and they take or collect you from/to Lift No1 (funicular) which goes from Flaine Forêt to Flaine Forum. The drivers were so friendly and did their best to collect you as soon as possible. |We did walk from the hotel a few times, it’s a 20 min walk along a path, depending on snowfall.||It is truly ski in/ski out - the green Opale piste takes you to the hotel from the top of the Gerats chair, which closes at 16:35hrs or just take the navette if after this time.||Within the hotel complex there is a small ski shop which has a coffee shop upstairs, there is a restaurant La Table d’Helios (which despite the name isn’t affiliated to the hotel) and a Spa Shop which had everything we needed from essentials to local cheese, meats and drinks - the Spa also sells freshly cooked hot food of an evening, such as Croziflette, Tartiflette or rotisserie chicken and potatoes - usually available from 18:00. ||Our ski locker had boot warmers for 6 pairs of
Super friendly staff, everything we needed for an easy first ski holiday with 2 young kids. Ski school , ski hire and lockers all so handy it made mornings much smoother. Spar shop had everything we needed. Shuttle buses were easy to use. Rooms were really comfortable, beautiful views.
Really lovely hotel. |The staff were super friendly specially the ones at reception (could speak multiple languages so don’t worry if your not fluent in French, like myself) and really helpful with all questions asked. Ie lockers, bus service with available shops, ski/boot/pass collection and what is available in the town itself.|I chose it for its ski in and ski out plus while it was a package deal which saved a lot of money. |I’d highly recommend this resort and hotel. |Family friendly but also a decent place to go with friends and I believe they allow animals as well at an extra fee not that I used that service.
We had a two bedroom apartment in the annexe of the hotel. It meant we had to take our luggage across the opale ski - not a problem but worth baring in mind if you have a room in this building. To access the spa / swimming pool you also have to go back across the ski run to main hotel. Again wasn’t an issue for ourselves but did mean you couldn’t just wander down in your robe and slippers. ||Apartments was somewhat dated. Pets are allowed in this hotel and it appeared the previous occupants had pets. We had to vaccum several times the carpet area. The vacuum unfortunately hadn’t been emptied either prior to our arrival. We had various marks on the carpets and some broken toilet holders. Holes on the robes we’d been provided. Marks on the walls and curtains that had seen better days. That said none of this was insurmountable. I suspect this is the result of the end of a long busy session. I know it may not be helpful for heating but if pets are allowed then maybe carpets aren’t the best. Also if you have allergies in your family it is probably worth asking if there are non pet rooms. ||Kitchen is small but suited us family of 3. The microwave broke and we reported to reception and it was replaced within the day. Dishwasher wasn’t great and not sure when last serviced. Again I’m thinking end of ski session. There is a small pod nespresso machine. You get three capsules on arrival. We brought our own from home. You have a microwave over and 4 hob (electric). ||We had two bathrooms for the two bedrooms and plenty space for our family. TV had a variety of channels for all languages which was great. No toiletries other than soap provided. ||Views from apartment were stunning. ||As pervious reviews you are a bit out of town but the hotel shuttle after 6 is great and a phone call away. Information on the shuttle is on the billboard in reception. If you want fresh bread there is a tablet on reception to order this however I think you have to do this pre 6:30pm for the next d
The good stuff. Location was good for ski in and ski out; nearby Spar shop was useful, kitchen reasonably well equipped for making meals. But, it does leave a lot to be desired. Tired, worn decor, very firm beds, no bedding for sofa bed on arrival when we’d informed them there were 5 staying in the apartment. The spa is a nice place to visit, but, in desperate need of a good clean in the pool and jacuzzi areas. And finally, whilst this might be self catering accommodation, I would have expected to have to plead with the reception staff for more toilet roll to be told “you have to buy it yourself”.
Really loved the location and facilities available and would definitely recommend and stay again.||The spar was really good for food.||Things to improve though for it to be a 5 star experience that I would normally get as part of a 5 star accommodation...||Fresh towels and room cleaning while we are there. We didn't get that.|More coffee/tea as only gave us enough for 1 day then had to buy our own|More toilet roll as had to buy our own after the provided ones ran out|The jacuzzi was too cold. Maybe we should've mentioned to reception but it wasn't very warm each time we went in.||All the rest was excellent and staff were so helpful at reception. The shuttle was great and no complaints other than the ones mentioned above.
Hotel location is good, but room location very poor, view consists of looking at bins at corner of hotel. Due to arriving earlier than check-in, made to wait 5hrs for our room told we would be called when ready but reception continued to give other people rooms, despite arriving later than us. Look to have got the smallest room on the ground floor, dirty 3 inch mattress on the pull out bed, 3 adults and a 14 year old and no space. Reception absolutely no help, told hotel was full. Also given a key for the ski room our locker was half the width of all the other lockers.
