We had a wonderful second stay at Domaine de L’Oiseau. Sheena and John are exceptional hosts, and their beautiful, lovingly restored estate is full of charm. Breakfast and the gourmet dinner on the terrace by the pool were real highlights, made even better by John’s excellent wine recommendations and their warm company. The gardens are stunning, with magnificent old trees, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and peaceful. It’s also a perfect base for exploring Burgundy, especially with Beaune so close by. We would happily return again.

Conveniently located between Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saone, the Domaine de L'Oiseau is a very charming guest house with excellent cuisine. The four rooms are all on the ground floor and have separate entrances; they are rather spacious, tastefully decorated, with very comfortable beds and really nice bathrooms. Sheena and John are wonderful hosts, breakfasts and dinners are delicious, and in summer you can enjoy the nice pool and beautiful gardens. A special place, for those seeking relaxation or touring the Burgundy region. We loved it - highly recommended!

What a wonderful and enjoyable place! Excellent pastoral location, far from the madding crowd, in Harry's words, but close enough to visit both Beaune and Chalon, as well as the route de Gran crus Burgundy. Sheena and John are the perfect hosts--charming, warm, and accommodating. The food is superb, from the delicious breakfast offerings to star quality menus in the evening.

After attempting to stay at Domaine de L'Oiseau 3 times but being forced to cancel due to personal circumstances, we finally made it on our way down to the South of France. After speaking to Sheena who was so lovely and helpful, we decided to stay for two nights so that we could do some cycling into Beaune which was great fun and to make the most of our stopover. We are so glad that we did.||We had already fallen in love with it just from the website alone as it looked so beautiful and our kind of place, the décor, only four rooms, intimate, and great that we could eat there and not have to trek around looking for somewhere to eat. We had high expectations as we had been looking forward to it for so long and wow it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after by Sheena and John who were amazing hosts, everything was catered for, from a nice drink on arrival sitting on the terrace overlooking the pool and gorgeous view, Sheena sorting out our bike hire and getting the bikes delivered to us, the beautiful room air conditioned room which was large and stunningly decorated, but the standout was the food that Sheena and John prepared, it was outstanding, so beautifully presented and cooked with love, care and the most exquisite detail. We felt like we were in a top-class restaurant with our own personal chefs, and it was the finishing touches that just made it all so special. All the wine was local, and we were given all the history behind it. We didn’t want to leave and loved it so much that we rebooked and stayed again two weeks later on our way back from our holiday.||This will now be our go to place whenever we are next heading in that direction and has a little bit of our hearts now. ||Thank you so much Sheena and John for a memorable stay. We will be back!

This was an unfortunate stay on many levels. We reserved a last minute room based on the other positive reviews. The price was much higher than other properties in the area, which would have been fine if it had delivered the luxury experience promised, but it did not. Upon arrival, the hostess invited us to join her for a drink, but instead of joining me, she lingered awkwardly in the corner. Her husband made a brief appearance to pour a glass of wine and then disappeared completely. And I later discovered that they charged me for what was billed as a welcome drink. Very strange, but maybe the British have a different definition of hospitality. Oh well. The room itself was comfortable, but unfortunately very cold and the heating had already been turned off for the season, so we both shivered through the night. The room also had clear moisture issues as it was very damp and drafty, and there were even visible water spots on the walls! When I mentioned this concern to the hostess in the morning, she dismissed it rudely. Unfortunately she seemed more interested in trying to pass herself off as a fairy tale chatelaine rather than a modern innkeeper. In addition, the pool was closed and covered when we arrived, and we had to specifically hunt the hostess down to open the library. The hostess also sent us to the worst tourist trap of a restaurant that we have experienced in all of France. All in all, this was our most disappointing stay in many, many years, and we would suggest that prospective guests look elsewhere.

Along with another couple, we spent two nights at Domaine de L' Oiseau, and it was fantastic in every way. Our hosts Sheena and John were warm, welcoming and delightful. Their property is gorgeous and very convenient for wine tasting and touring in the region. The guest rooms are top-notch, with extremely comfortable beds, high quality furnishings, and fully-appointed bathrooms. All apparently re-modeled within the past 3-4 years. The meals were truly gourmet, and served on the patio pool-side when weather permits. We could not have been happier with our stay, and we will definitely return!

Our second visit to the Domaine and, as before, we received a warm welcome from Sheena and John. We had everything we needed in our room to relax after a gruelling drive on the motorway. The room was comfortable and warm with extra blankets and good quality towels and toiletries. After an excellent dinner, a good night's sleep and a delicious breakfast we were all set to resume our drive home. La Domaine is now our favourite stopover and we look forward to our next visit.

A wonderful place to be. I spent a few days vacation in the Domaine de l'oiseau. It is a luxury bed and breakfast in a cosy country cottage style which is really adorable. Sheena and John, the owners are so kind and it was a pleasure to meet them. They are passionate taking care of their guests and I felt so welcomed. The food was amazing. I will certainly come back again.
