Avis
It’s a really nice airport! It was much smaller than I expected, but it’s beautifully designed and very well organized. Everything felt calm and easy to navigate, which made the experience even better. I especially appreciated the staff…they were incredibly helpful, patient, and kind throughout the process. Even though the waiting time was quite long and a bit exhausting, their professionalism and positive attitude made it much more manageable. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience. 👍
Good size airport with 99 gates, well signed, clean. Arrivals are on the 2nd floor, Check-in on 3rd floor, Security gate and Departures from 4th floor. Security was fairly fast. There are a decent number of benches to sit while waiting.. although some areas could have used some more.
Euro Airport Basel Mulhouse is one of the rare airport which serves both Switzerland and France. Even certain parts of Germany can be accessed from here. On arrival there was a clear sign which side to go to. We got our luggage soon. The airport building is small but very well managed. It was very easy to get a taxi outside.
Basel Airport is a very efficient airport that is easy to use and well laid out. It is clean, accessible and feels well organised, which helps make the whole journey much less stressful. A good airport for a smooth start or finish to your trip.
The check in staff was very pleasant. Airport can get busy and is a smaller size airport. The security lines gets full very quickly so bear this in mind. The airport lounge is before passport control so if you plan on visiting, plan accordingly. It has good connection with Basel main station with bus not train and the bus takes around 20.
I liked the airport. From registration to passing through security and passport control, all stages are organized at a high level, the staff is attentive and polite, and the waiting time in the queue is short. The only drawback that I noticed is that in one place, where there is a passage to duty-free, only steps are made and it is inconvenient for people with bags to pass. In general, Basel Airport and especially its Euroairport skyview lounge leave the best impressions. Euroairport skyview lounge after renovation, it is divided into four segments: Café, View, Terrace and Bar. The lounge is new, beautiful, very decent, lots of seats are available, comfortable armchairs, there is a view terrace, you can go out into the fresh air, there are places to work on a computer, and even slightly isolated areas. The lounge has a modest, quite sufficient selection of drinks and snacks, fruits, and delicious vegetable soup. A good coffee machine with high-quality coffee. Drinking water is only bottled, which is a disadvantage, it is better if bottled water is available. They say there are showers, but I haven't found them, so maybe I should ask the staff.
A medium-sized airport physically located on the French side but having exits to both France and Switzerland. What pleasantly surprised was the absence of any queues to process De Taxe - it’s a terminal where you just scan the forms and get your refund back to your card or in cash, I’m not too sure how you’d get cash as there was only currency exchange agency nearby (maybe you get cash over there). The customs office desk was present but no one was there so you just scan your forms and off you go! Compared to De Taxe lines in CDG that can take 1+ hours, the process here is super fast and smooth. Not too many food booths / coffee stations but we were able to find basic coffee + sandwich options there. If you’re getting here from Mulhouse, be cautious as Uber cost us 75 euro for a 30 min drive. There might be cheaper public transit options or taxi.
My experience at Basel Airport was extremely disappointing. During the security check, a piece of Roquefort cheese that was properly packaged and hard was confiscated without a clear explanation. Even more surprisingly, a 30 ml travel container was taken away because the volume was not printed on the bottle, despite the fact that all my other 100 ml travel containers passed through security without any issue. The rules appeared to be applied inconsistently and without common sense. Instead of providing clear and reasonable explanations, the staff simply confiscated the item. This created unnecessary frustration and left me with the feeling that passengers are not being treated fairly. This was my first visit to Basel and Zurich, and unfortunately this incident left a very negative impression on both me and my group of friends. We came expecting the efficiency, professionalism, and quality for which Switzerland is known, but our experience at the airport was quite the opposite. Sadly, after this experience, we have no intention of returning. Very disappointing.
