Before booking, be aware: this hotel is really two different experiences depending on which section you’re placed in. If you’re lucky enough to get a room in the newer part of the building, you’ll probably have a perfectly pleasant stay. If you end up in the old section like we did, it’s a different story entirely. I suspect this is exactly why the reviews here are so polarised. For a hotel carrying 4-star accreditation, the old rooms are in a state that’s hard to justify. Our room had no Wi-Fi signal, a broken safe, and a renovated bathroom with a ceiling so low (around 1.8m) in the shower, so showering meant hunching the entire time. The soap dispensers were non-functional, requiring us to manually dispense hand wash. Small things individually, but collectively they paint a picture of neglected maintenance. The air conditioning was also clearly underpowered for the size of the old-wing rooms. No issues with the team here at all. But great staff can’t compensate for a property that hasn’t been properly maintained or renovated. Until the older rooms are brought up to standard, the 4-star rating feels difficult to understand. We won’t be returning.

Great hotel in a converted convent, in old town and a short stroll from the Palace of Popes. The pool needs attention, but it's pretty remarkable to have one at all in a property like this, especially with how hot Avignon can get in summer. Dinner at the restaurant was better than passable, and fresh orange juice for breakfast. Ask for a room in the historic rather than the new building.

Nice hotel nice staff but a couple of issues. While they have a lift, there are stairs up or down to your room if you are in the NEW BUILDING. If this is an issue for you…..also, water pressure seems To be very low for shower and even the sink. Water just dribbles out. Nice, less touristy neighborhood with lots of restaurants close by. Helpful staff. It’s a bit of a walk to the Palais de Papes but overall a good choice if the stairs don’t present a problem for you.

Nice hotel and good location. Interesting experience. Location right inside Avignon City centre and easy to reach train station

If you read the reviews they vary a lot! I had a great holiday in Cloitre St Louis, so I am a supporter. The building is fabulous and full of character. We stayed in a huge old room. It had great WiFi, adequate air-conditioning but the plumbing could be improved a bit. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, both at breakfast and in the evening. The position is probably the best in town. Close to the station and buses for public transport and access to parking. It is near a huge number of restaurants and bars if you want to explore. I liked the staff who were friendly, helpful and hard working.

This historic building is in a great location inside the walls of Avignon, close to the tourist office and the main street in the city. Only 10 minutes away from the Palace of the Popes and attractions. There is a lovely courtyard complete with centre attraction. We were in the old part of the building on the second floor with views over the courtyard rooms 220 and 221. There is a lift available for access here. ||The rooms themselves were clean and most facilities you would expect tea/coffee, fridge, hairdryer, tv. The bedrooms are spacious with a separate toilet and shower room, only slight issues were the showers are quite low and if you were tall that could be an issue. One rail for the shower head is worn and needs replaced. ||The staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable about any questions we had. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice, perfect the first two days when the hotel was quiet, but the last two with a large tour group did take longer due to a lack of crockery and limited seating.

Staying at this hotel completely ruined my trip . Due to the freezing cold room and the hotel's negligent management, I ended up falling severely ill. On the first day, the room was like an icebox. The hotel did absolutely nothing to fix the heating issue and refused to provide any assistance. Because of this, I spent the night shivering in the cold, which resulted in a terrible sore throat, severe coughing, and thick phlegm. I had to rush to a local pharmacy to buy 3 different medications just to get through the trip. Only on the second day did they finally bring two portable heaters. The staff acted as if they were going to offer a discount or some form of compensation for the terrible experience, but it was all empty promises. They did absolutely nothing for us in the end. This hotel has zero regard for its guests' health and is highly deceptive. Please avoid this place at all costs if you don't want to ruin your vacation in Avignon. I'm still feel not good . Strongly do NOT recommend.

This message is for the management or the owner of the hotel. We stayed at this hotel for four nights and found that the pillows on the bed and the sheets are very thin and inexpensive. For the owner of the hotel to purchase better quality sheets is worth it, because the guest sleep on them for eight hours
