The position is central, but calm & tranquil around a courtyard with potted plants and patio set. The location, just off the main street of probably the prettiest village in the centre of possibly the most attractive part of France is hard to beat. The building is quaint, charming, early 17-century and beautifully restored. This would rate 5* but for 2 things, our gîte was fully equipped, stylishly furnished & decorated but space in the bedroom was tight. The only real means of getting into the far side of the bed being crawling across rather than a walk round it and our car was too big to access the on-site car parking - to be fair, our car is very big. There are plenty of good restaurants very close plus the amenities of wine merchants, up-market gift shops and museums. We had come to do our own wine tasting tour and found it perfect for our purposes.||||Service was excellent from booking to checkout with the owners being very attentive and helpful. Flowers in the room & on the patio table were a nice feature. ||The cost was very competitive for accommodation of this standard in this location. Even though parking was extra it was secure & cheaper than public parking in & around Riquewihr.||||The bedroom was quiet, well curtained from light but with a view of vineyards. I found it was comfortable and provided a really good night's sleep, probably better than I get in most Hotels, as I do not take quickly to a different bedroom. ||||The room was very clean and all the fittings and features were modern, tasteful, well thought-out and in good working order. Kitchen had everything & there was free Wi-Fi too (though possibly with longest password I have ever come across – very secure!). The owner paid attention to the state of everything everyday.||||I have visited Alsace many time and stayed in many places; this is the best so far in terms of comfort service and value for money. I would certainly make this my first choice for the next visit but choose
We stayed 5 nights in the Duplex gite of Maison Kiener. The welcome has been friendly and instructive. The gite is very spacious, clean and confortable. Big screen TV, kitchenette and some comfy sofas helped us relax. The town of Riquewihr is beautiful and we enjoyed long walks with our dog but always looked forward to come back to our Duplex. ||The beds are too soft for the liking of my back but everything else has been perfect.
My husband and a couple friends stayed in this wonderful unique house that is part of Maison Keiner. In Riquewhir, Violane and Sebastien have 4-5 properties and the one we stayed in was La Cachette. It is a 2 bedroom house, renovated in the Alsatian style and sits over 3 floors. The top bedroom has its own shower/bathroom/toilet and a little sitting area, with a TV overlooking the vineyards and rooftops. The double bedroom is spacious with exposed wooden beams and a beautifully painted ceiling with birds and mood lighting. The single bedroom is spacious and has a small table and armchair. The middle floor has a spacious double bedroom with its own shower and basin; a study area with a desk, separate toilet, separate shower and another bedroom with 2 single beds.||||The kitchen is bright and has all one needs, Fridge, microwave, cooktop, oven, microwave, coffee makers, toaster, kettle, plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery, cooking utensils and pots and pans. It also has a dishwasher and a washing machine/dryer and there is plenty of bench space.||||In the lounge/dining there are armchairs and a sofa with a large dining table and coffee table in it. There is also a TV with music equipment. For heating there is one big wood burner heater in the lounge/dining room and heaters in all the upstairs spaces. ||||Violane and Sebastien were perfect hosts and could always be contacted if we needed anything. They suggested places to eat and things to do and informed us of where we could purchase supplies for our self catering. The property also has Wifi connection.||||We highly recommend this property in this beautiful village and we had a fantastic stay
We returned to Riquewihr and this time stayed Le Riesling - gite. It is rather small, but big enough for a couple. Old house, full of fascinating details. Its modern kitchen and bathroom help to enjoy staying in this pictoresque town.||Violaine is so helpful owner. We have been here some times at the past, but soon she discovered something new and interesting.||As mentioned, sometimes flushing can be noisy, but that is the only harm we noticed. Kitchenette works fine for breakfast and in town full of good restaurants we did not use it more than that.||If You are by car, remember to book parking also in advance. Much better than leaving car far away, though You have to be careful when driving thru streets at tourist peak hours (09-18) .
We rented Maison Kiener's La Cachette for 3 couples in May. The house was charming, comfortable and immaculate. The location in the center of the beautiful town of Riquewihr was perfect. The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend this rental for a family or small group.
Three days at this wonderful, original Alsacian house from 1605 at very center of medieval city of Riquewihr. Book this, if you want to stay within the walls of Riquewihr, the most beautiful medieval city in Alsace. Suitable for two couples or two persons looking for separate bedrooms. Very helpful and innovative landlord, immediate answers to any question or request. This duplex is on second and third floor of old building, very original in structure but todays equipment including wifi. Narrow and steep steps, good excercise for healthy legs. Even this is located in the center of the village, we got parking place about 15 meters from the appartment door. On request, we also got key to separate, authentic storage room to keep all the wines shopped from various wineries in good condiction prior to loading the car just before departure.||Higly recommended to all Riquewihr lovers.
We stayed at the apartment 'le gite' in December 2013 for 3 nights. Our primary motivation was to visit the area and explore the various christmas markets. We decided on Riquewhir as opposed to Colmar and we were pleased we did. The area is beautiful and full of character. ||||The apartment was great and was well positioned. For the price, you really couldn't ask for better. The owners were very accommodating and showed us where everything in the town was. It really is worth reserving a parking spot as the town becomes extremely full at that time of the year and parking is difficult. ||||I was a little off-put when i tried to reserve the apartment as all the communication was in French (i had to translate) but it was worth the effort. When we arrived, the owners spoke English in any case. ||||Overall, highly recommended.
We stayed in the Duplex of the Maison des Vignerons for three nights in June with our two kids ages 10 and 7. The apartment is very quaint, clean and beautifully decorated and has all the amenities one could want (even a flat screen TV and wi-fi). The beds are also very comfortable. The owner is lovely and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for a family with kids as long as the kids are over 6 because there are steep steps to get to the bedroom on the second floor. The only negative comment about this place is that there is no air conditioning so the second floor bedroom can get quite warm in the summer (only one tiny window). Of course it was 33 degrees Celsius when we were there. Other than that it is a great location to explore the Alsace region.
