ALTA OPERA

This house has excellent sound even under the balcony. There are some good productions. Seats however are narrow and uncomfortable. Very little room for your knees. The staff are young and helpful. Drinks are expensive and not great quality. Red wine was poor last night. Last night at the end of the concert they were slow to turn on the vestibule lights. One man Rushed and fell due to lack of light.

Wonderful concert from Rouen and Normandie Orchestras. Going to modify my review and add: I go there a lot and attend concerts, soirées , Opera shows...etc. I enjoy every one of them.

Magic place! Have to come in France to see that european culture is number 1. Love you Rouen!!!

Super friendly and helpful staff, excellent performance (Iolanta 2026).

The 1960s building is one of the city's landmarks. Although the auditorium remains basic, even plain (it looks like a cinema), the major flaw is the intolerable lack of air-conditioning and ventilation. For the last performance of Rossini's Semiramis, the unbearable heat in the auditorium spoilt the pleasure of the opera and our appreciation of the singers' performance. It was our first and last experience of this opera!

The guest pianist was excellent. The seating affords everyone an excellent view of the performances and the acoustics were spot on.

They gave us the wrong indications to go find our seats, then a blonde girl talked to us in a very rude way telling us we cannot enter anymore because 'its late' even if the opera did not start yet. They should give clear indications at the entrance instead of punishing the spectator. Very disappointing. Never saw something like this in an Opera in my life.
