We arrived in the evening. Pretty grumpy owner who seemed a bit stressed out. The place was freezing cold in terms of atmosphere and temperature 🤒 Fire was put on for an average evening meal but didn’t heat a big house like that. The room was tiny with lights not fully functional; loo flush broken and a bath tap so tiny it can’t be called a bath. Breakfast served but without a plate!! All in all, lots to learn for them if they want to meet the standards they are charging
We were pleasantly surprised at how much charm the village and this gite offered. The house is cozy and spacious, with a lovely past history, and our hosts were very accommodating (we arrived late at night and they stayed up for us). Our rooms were clean, furnished with armchairs and tea service for relaxing, an ensuite bathroom with (in our case) a bath. One of our rooms overlooked the village and the other was more intimate. A big common room / breakfast room was delightful with its many books and board games. The interior courtyard gives directly onto the hamlet's main road, so quite easy to go out for a stroll and enjoy the day or night skies. Highlights: delicious breakfast with fresh yogurt and milk from the local laiterie and brioche from a passionate local baker (where we also got picnic supplies). We took up our hosts' recommendation to reserve a table for dinner at a nearby town, since the gite doesn't do dinners--it was a ten minute drive and the meal was fresh and good. Overall, we'd recommend the Vagabonds and we're planning to go again.
What a magical time we had at Les Vagabonds. We were warmly welcomed by Matthew despite being early for check-in. Our room was very clean, nicely decorated and a very comfortable space to rest after days of cycling and camping. Wow, the evening meal in the tranquil courtyard was superb, as was the breakfast the next morning, made with fresh, local ingredients. We loved meeting the owners and hearing the story of the building! Hope to be back one day 🙂
Fabulous, Matthew was a great host, rooms comfortable, we had an evening meal here which was nice, options also to eat at the one local bar/restaurant which looked good. Breakfast was lovely the morning we left. Great hiking and the town is beautiful to wander about, recommended 👌
This is a truly lovely place to stay. The Hosts could not be more helpful, the rooms spotless and very comfortable, delicious breakfasts (and super dinners in the evening on request!) and very peaceful. My husband and I loved our stay so much we returned for an extra night on our return from Italy.|Very pretty village and spectacular scenery. We plan to visit again!!
Our stay at Vagabonds du Mond was incredible and exceeded all expectations. We stayed Friday to Sunday in the middle of a tour of France. After spending time in some Alpine cities, our stay in Chichilliane was a relaxing antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city. We were met by Danielle, who gave us a wonderfully warm welcome. The food was excellent - homemade, local, informal and very enjoyable. The owners are clearly proud of their region and its produce, and it really showed. The fresh bread, local yoghurts and honey at breakfast were delicious, as were the local beers and biodynamic wines. The picnic that was prepared for our hike around Mont Aiguille was superb - tasty sandwiches, a pasta salad, fruit and a soft drink. The property itself was charming and spacious. The courtyard was a highlight - a great spot for reading, relaxing and enjoying the evening meals (there was the option to eat inside in bad/cold weather, but this wasn't needed). The rooms were well equipped, if a little dated - but this wasn't an issue, and only added to the charm. It really did feel as though we were escaping to better times gone by! If you're looking for a relaxing escape, in a quiet village, with nothing to do but take in the incredible nature... look no further. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and we wish you every success. Until next time!
We received a warm welcome, a comfortable room and delicious meals from caring hosts. The patio is lovely and the surrounding nature is beautiful. However, be sure to note that you cannot pay by card and the closest ATM is in a town 10 minutes drive away.
This b&b is owned by the friendliest French family i have ever met, they welcomed us like long lost friends when we were stranded in the area with a broken down car and helped us every step of the way, it didn’t hurt that they have renovated this beautiful old house to perfection, and cook the most scrumptious dinners. Beautiful location with wonderful people that turned a bad day into an idyllic side holiday. Pet friendly, child friendly too.
