Maison Luard is a great place for travelers to enjoy the kindness and hospitality, good food and very confortable rooms and patio. Jane and Eric are very skilled and professional, but beside that, they are sweet, kind, helpful and friendly. Easy to communicate and understanding, plus that they speak both English and French. They covered us with their love and attention. We have enjoyed really good dinner and wine, and the rooms are extremely cozy. Cannot describe in words the good feeling they inspire, I love them both ❤️💙
Nestled in the Pyrenees this beautiful little hotel is a real find, it is picture postcard perfect with loads of great touches. Hosts Eric & Jane are full of life & nothing is too much trouble. You can eat a wonderful home cooked meal at a great price and sit in a very romantic dining room to eat it. Each room has a unique design and are great value for money. There is a lovely garden with views of the mountains. The small village has great character with a few essential shops, a bar and a wonderful baker, who provides the croissants for breakfast. Surrounding countryside is great for walking with fantastic views. A truly memorable stay, we can't wait to go back again.
It was an absolute treat to stay with Jane and Eric in their restored house from the 1600's! Their house is in Bedous, an authentic, neat, pretty village set in the Pyrenees. We received a warm welcome after our drive from Biarritz. Jane and Eric are both chefs and have years of experience in hospitality. We were bowled over but the fabulous, high end, three course dinners - except for going to a wedding reception we didn't eat anywhere else! I enjoyed the walled garden for having our meals and sitting out in in the evening. The night lights added a touch of magic to the experience if seeing the stars wasn't enough! Bedous is along part of the Camino - it was a spiritual experience to get to walk along it, across country to the next village - Accous ( and then back again to Jane and Eric's). I found it remarkable that the village has hardly advertisements/commercial signs up on the walls - this authenticity is is a break from the marketing we get at home. An evening trip to Lourdes was particularly remarkable for the twisty, scenic roads and quiet, prayerful scene at the Lourdes grotto late in the evening. We were able to park our rental car from Biarritz airport (a small very manageable airport) a few metres from the door of the B and B. Coming from Ireland, even we were impressed with the country life here - sheep farming, hay making. If you want a fabulous French retreat, in the house of a welcoming talented couple this is the place to come. We spent the trip home plotting our return!
This is my second stay and my husband's first. I found this gem of a place while traveling for business in 2014 and knew I had to come back with my husband. Jane and Eric are the most wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful, spacious and clean as can be. The service is friendly and warm. They go way above and beyond to see to your comfort. Jane is also a wonderful cook if you want an evening meal here! There is o better place to relax and enjoy this tranquil and gorgeous area of France.
This is the most wonderful, friendly and welcoming place to stay in the Pyrenees. Jane (very English) and Eric (very French) run an amazingly relaxed establishment and make their guests feel as if they one of the family. They have created and crafted a beautiful chambre d'hôte with an incredible amount of hard work, making a haven whether you are passing through or taking time to explore this beautiful area of the Pyrenees. Talking to other guests I know many frequently return which is always a good sign. Jane and Eric are both excellent cooks, nay chefs would be a better word, and produce wonderful tasty meals, you would certainly not want to eat out if you are staying there. If the weather is good then you might sit outside in their tranquil garden which is magical as dusk draws in and the garden lights come on. Otherwise they have a baronial dining room, decorated and furnished in typical French style I've stayed twice, once when the place was in its infancy and a blank canvas as Jane and Eric had just bought it a few months before. I returned this year and was amazed to see the transformation as they have truly worked their magic on what was a wreck into a comfortable home from home. I can't wait until I can go back again. If you are thinking of going to this area of France book soon because as their reputation spreads it will become harder to get a room there I am sure. Bedous is a great base to explore both the French side of the Pyrenees, and also just a 45 minute drive will see you across into Spain, and if the weathers is poor on one side of the mountains, chances are it'll be better on the other, with a tunnel linking the two countries if the weather is too bad to go right up high over the high mountain peaks which themselves are truly spectacular.
The best part of travelling is meeting people like Eric and Jane. They are a lovely couple and we had a wonderful stay.|Room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The village is super nice and authentic. The dinner was very good.|I definetly recommend it.
We arrived this May absolutely shattered after walking the Arles Way and we could not have imagined a warmer greeting. Eric & Jane are such fabulous hosts you instantly feel at home. Immediately there was the most delicious dinner being cooked up and oh my word it was glorious. If you stay here and eat elsewhere you are crazy! We had a lovely evening chatting away about all sorts of things... lots of laughter and stories shared. Just the way travelling should be. We felt so looked after and spoilt that every evening after we left could never measure up! We would return in a heartbeat and heartily recommend Maison Luard, what a find!
I just spent a week at Maison Luard and this was my second stay - the first being in May of this year. This is the place to stay for anyone seeking a warm welcome, unbounded hospitality, good times, laughter, a superb and memorable dinner, and a comfortable, clean room. All of that and some of the best scenery and walks you can find anywhere. I will stay here again and have nothing but the highest recommendation for Jane and Eric’s wonderful Maison Luard. Treat yourself and spend a few nights (or longer.)||||PS - the WiFi is excellent.
