The Asian Art museum in Nice is a standout experience, and it’s free to enter. This place should be mobbed. Easy access next to Park Phoenix, it is a beautiful building with rich permanent exhibits. The temporary exhibit was excellent photography of Japanese sumo wrestlers.
Interesting museum in a modern and spacious building Absolutely free of charge However there are disadvantages: 1) in the pond I spotted a turtle however the quality of the water is horrible and the poor animal is suffering, I hope this issue will be addressed shortly 2) not a lot of English plaques Anyway, for a free museum this is a really good place, I’m taking down one star only for the turtle situation
A hidden gem near Nice Airport. The building itself is striking, modern and floating above water. Inside, you’ll find a compact but elegant collection of Asian art from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. Exhibits are well explained in French and English. Free entry, calm atmosphere, and a lovely escape from the busy city. Great to combine it with a stroll through Parc Phoenix next door.
The museum was designed by renowned Japanese architect, Kenzo Tange. This museum although is in Nice, I can imagine myself in Tokyo overlooking the same pond. I came to see the Sumo exhibition and I wasn't disappointed. It's well worth a visit. There are small lockers available. I bought a poster and Japanese incense from the gift shop. I look forward to visit again in upcoming exhibitions.
This small free museum is a real gem which deserves more visitors! The building itself is very interesting in a beautiful location overlooking a pond on the edge of Phoenix Park. There are some really great exhibits and beautiful objects from multiple Asian countries and we particularly enjoyed the current exhibition on Japanese street performers which has some wonderful, colourful and detailed paintings and great information boards. It's well worth the short trip out from the centre of Nice!
Amazing free museum it is very small only 20 to 30 minutes to go around over 3 floors. Well worth it if you are in the area. Only down side the descriptions are only in French no other translations. It is worth spending time here combined with the garden and park.
Really nice collection of Asian art. It’s fairly small, takes about an hour or two max, but entrance is free. Temporary exhibition are also good, mix of modern and classic art. Near the airport and tram station, so worth to visit for a pleasant afternoon!
It is a small but very unique museum (on different aspects). The location (attached to Parc Phoenix), the building itself (surrounded by water & incorporated there nicely) and the history it tells. Just having in mind how big Asia is and what long history it went through - not too many items are there. The exposition is well presented. But number of items could be much bigger having in mind the rich history of that region. Anyway, it was free entrance (July 2023), so no regrets.
