Cosy and welcoming family run hotel with a gastronomic restaurant. Well worth a detour to stay or eat 😁

Stayed here for a night during a trip around central and western France. Hotel was fine. My room was on the smallish side but it was quiet and had functioning air-conditioning and was really clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff were brilliant! Really helpful. Supper in the restaurant was delicious and the menu was inventive. I had a dessert based on passion fruit macaroon and apple sorbet which was truly delicious. Breakfast was what I expected with some interesting cakes etc. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm next passing through.

The hotel is beautifully situated, the room was perfect, it could have been wonderful, sadly the entire team, especially the lady running the hotel were so unwelcoming, unhelpful and really relatively rude. No recommendations given when asked, rude in French about us not having breakfast (we didn’t want a buffet, just a coffee and croissant). Retro, but charming decor. I would recommend the hotel for location and room, but don’t expect a friendly welcome.

Its understated lovely hotel was the perfect place to base ourselves and enjoy the surrounding countryside. Super comfortable and very friendly people.

Charming old country hotel in the lovely Marais Poitevin. Staff very friendly courteous. The restaurant is excellent.

Unfortunately, we arrived on a Monday when the hotel's restaurant is closed and Reception for check in doesn't open until 4.30pm. However, we parked the car in the hotel's car park and explored Coulon, a delightful canal side village with charm and character. There is a bar right next to the hotel for drinks and snacks, they sell a very pleasant rose wine by the half carafe. We eventually checked in at about 5pm and were taken to Room 1. The hotel has been very nicely refurbished and the room was very tastefully done in a French chic style with separate toilet, separate bathroom and double bed. The wifi worked well. As you are over the courtyard, you could hear voices when the window is open and if it was a normal restaurant evening, I imagine it could be a little noisy. There is an option to book one of the rooms near the car park that are in a separate block of 4 and if returning, I would probably go for one of those as there is more privacy, it is a little more secluded and you can sit outside the room on a pleasant day. The air conditioning in the room is efficient. My main issue arose at bedtime. The bed is a standard double, so smaller than in many hotels but the problem lies in the protector mattress cover they put under the sheet. This is hard and wrinkles up and ensured that I hardly slept all night as it was hugely uncomfortable and simply 'hard'. This wasn't helped by a very small, almost flat pillow that meant the whole experience was like sleeping flat on the floor. Breakfast the next morning for 10 Euros was very good with a selection of breads, croissants, yogurt, fruit, eggs, ham, cheese, jams etc. and is enough to set you up for the day with very drinkable coffee. The total cost including breakfast was £104 so very reasonable, but I would have happily paid more for a good night's sleep.

First of all we were surprised by the lovely region "La Venise Verte". Never heard of it but was very cosy. We rented bikes for 4 hours and had a great time. It is feasible for everybody because no hills but don't forget to take a map because it's not always very clear. ||We had room 2 which was definitely not a big room but had everything we needed (although the bed was a bit tiny, I guess 140 max). ||The restaurant is really splendid (food, wine, service). We ate there twice and would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Returned here, and hopefully will again, to a very nice room at this splendid location. ||Very good, fine cuisine. For example, the Hibiscus Exotique dessert. ||However, I did note this time a few cleanliness problems in the room, and the restaurant waiting service that could have been better, like by announcing the dishes. But all that does not detract from the overall excellence.
