I participated in an educational programme about perfumery and cosmetics which took place over the span of two weeks. The institute is made up of true professionals who love sharing their passion for what they do with their students. I got to work with the lovely Mrs Elizabeth Proal and Mrs Carole André (pictured below) in the process of learning and identifying different perfume notes and making cosmetics in the lab. Everyone working in the institute is immensely friendly and always willing to help with any kind of matter, so the kind of relationship you form with them is light-hearted and you always feel comfortable. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I attended a 2-week summer school session (01-12 July) at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. It was an okay experience overall, however, there were a few areas where improvements should be made to enhance the value for future attendees. For €2400, I expected better program management. Areas for improvement: Logistics and Communication - Pre-Session Communications: Communications prior to the summer session were poor and unclear. Email responses were often delayed or non-existent. Some attendees did not receive the certificate for visa applications in a timely manner and had to follow up when the expectation set was that it would be sent once the fee was paid. - Outdated Website: The Q&A section of the website, and links for accommodations and transportation were outdated and not a helpful resource for planning. - Garden Visit Tips: They did not communicate tips for the garden visit, such as bringing a hat, wearing close-toe shoes, and repellent. This would've been beneficial for attendees to prepare and dress appropriately. - Dietary Needs: Despite submitting the dietary needs form twice to the international training manager, the lunch items provided frequently did not meet requirements. Materials and Equipment - Olfactory Study Materials: Some of the olfactory materials provided were not quality checked and were off. It's crucial to ensure all materials are checked for quality and availability before the start of a new session. - Equipment Functionality: Materials, such as scales, were not working correctly. Ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly before the start of a session is essential. - Materials Kit: Participants should be provided with their own materials kit and the cost should be included in the session fee. This would've prevented time wasted searching for materials and navigating around others.
