Great Museum. The blue-eyed man at the ticket counter was cute, and I was a little surprised by his excellent British English pronunciation. He's the best English speaker I've met in the two months I've been in France.😂Is he French.…..?
Bains Pommer were one of the highlights of our stay in Avignon. A fantastic insight into the relatively contemporary, social history of the city. Wonderfully presented & the City of Avignon should charge a small fee for entrance or at least accept donations. Come & visit & promote it more. Thank you, Avignon.
Fascinating museum in the heart of Avignon. Beautifully preserved, with great detail about the history of the old bathhouse. Perfectly small and very well presented. Highly recommend, probably my favourite thing in Avignon.
This is a great small museum. It will take about 45 minutes to go around but it is a time capsule. It has been restored or left just as it was when it was a working environment. There are the baths and showers as well as the private rooms of the owners. It may be out of the way of the usual attractions but it is worth it.
Fascinating museum about a yesteryear not so far in the past. A public bath house still in use up to 1972. Preserved as it was when Madame Pommer closed the doors and donated it to the city of Avignon. Entry is free!
Surprisingly enjoyable! Never seen anything like it! 😃 And free admission makes it even better. Almost all the other visitors seemed French at this relatively new museum, which is a rare experience in Nice. (Although I do wish the museum staff hadn't rushed us out of the building ~ 15 minutes before closing 😉)
Fascinating place. You need to read the explanation (English as well as French) to understand the technology behind what looks like simple bath rooms. Free entry. Highly recommended
It was such a unique exhibition, and having Jean-Michel Othoniel’s works displayed made it even more special.
