Every aspect of Maison Iparra's design and construction is genuine and true to Basque architectural traditions, but our room here was at least as modern and comfortable as what I'd expect to see in a newly constructed four- or even five-star hotel. The bed was just as large. Likewise the closet and the bathroom. The plumbing: brand new. The furniture: like new, but way more tasteful (Art Deco (original or first-rate reproduction) desk, side table, bedside tables). The wall art, perfectly curated (and, again, Art Deco style) golf and pelota drawings, cartoons, and paraphernalia. If anything, the room was larger than anything short of a hotel suite. Immaculate. Okay. There was no ballroom or, so far as I know, gymnasium, bar, conference room, or similar convention-center amenity that I would never expect to find in a bed & breakfast or use if it was found. The traditional architecture, Art Deco decor, and modern accommodations are the work of the proprietress, Sandrine Charlanne, who oversaw the building's design and construction. It appears to be a well-conceived and beautifully maintained purpose-built bed & breakfast, which I did not realize was even a thing until we checked in. You may also credit her with the delicious breakfasts, built around delicious yogurt (with muesli & granola and a rotating selection of jam additives), fruit and a rotating selection of baked goods, as was typical of all our breakfasts in Southern France. We certainly could not have hoped for a more gracious hostess or more pleasant stay. Maison Iparra is tucked away in Arcangues, but never-the-less handy to Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

Large rooms, well-decorated, comfortable beds. The location is beautiful in the countryside, about 10-15 minutes by car from commercial areas, 20 minutes from beaches. The hostess was great - friendly and helpful! Good breakfasts. We wish we could have stayed longer than our two days.

The room was large, spotlessly clean, with a beautiful view of trees and flowers. The breakfast was excellent. The hostess was helpful and accommodating. The location was about 15 minutes from the town and we loved that. We would like to have stayed longer.

We stayed at Iparra for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. Our room was spacious with lovely views from the windows and beautifully decorated with a large en-suite (with a bath). The bed was large and very comfortable and there is plenty of books, maps and information on the local area. The property is ideally located to visit Bayone, Biarritz and St Jean de Luz (with a car) which are all beautiful and great restaurants for lunch and dinner. The breakfasts at Iparra were fantastic and served in the lovely garden. Last but not least Sandrine was the perfect host advising us on things to do and loaning us maps and guide books on the local area and putting up with our bad French. We loved it and look forward to staying at Iparra again.

Sandrine is wonderful. Despite my non existent french, and her rusty english, we enjoyed several conversations and she guided us to excellent places to see and helped us decide where to eat. I really loved the relatively new, purpose built facilty. She and her family reside on one side, and the b & b rooms are on the other side. We had complete privacy, as you might find in a hotel, but she was just on the other side of the door into the breakfast room if we needed anything. The room itself was wonderful....luxurious crisp percale sheets, our own terrace, etc. The breakfast room had brochures and books galore, and a coffee and tea set up for a late night or early morning cup. Breakfast was delicious....fresh fruit and juice, and lovely baked items, great coffee. Bottom line....I often prefer a hotel to a b&b because too many are not really that professionally set up or comfortable....but this was better than a hotel in terms of comfort, and we got to visit with Sandrine! One caveat.....there is no AC, and it was hot a couple of nights. We had to keep the windows and doors closed because of mosquitos, so that was kind of a problem.

We have a very nice stay recently at Maison Iparra. The property is fairly new and our room was spacious and very well kept. Charlene was a gracious hostess and helped us with dining recommendations which were all very close by.||The location of this B&B was so centrally located that visiting the surrounding area did not require a lot of driving.||We would recommend Maison Iparra to anyone visiting the Basque Country.

Iparra exceeded our expectations. The room was beautiful, comfortable and very stylish. The bed was also very large and comfortable. The best night's sleep of my holiday!||Breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented.||Sandrine (the host) is very welcoming and fantastic at giving good tips for sightseeing etc.||Iparra might seem expensive when you simply look on the internet but as they say...."you get what you pay for"....and with Iparra that is the case. This is a well above average B&B and we would happily stay there again if in the region. I would most certainly recommend.
