AGCA ET FILS

Our hotel kindly offered to book us a table here, as it’s the only restaurant within walking distance. We arrived expecting somewhere quiet, but were surprised to find it buzzing — plenty of locals out enjoying a meal on a Thursday night in Crots. As it turned out, the busyness made perfect sense, because the food was excellent. Our hosts at the hotel had recommended the fillet steak with mushroom sauce, and it didn’t disappoint — the steak melted like butter. My wife chose the fillet with green peppercorn sauce, which was equally beautiful. To start, we shared the Vietnamese spring rolls, which were lovely. The friendly waitress suggested the French fries with crème fraîche and garlic, so I gave them a go on her recommendation, and I’m glad I did. For those of us used to a little vinegar on our chips, there was a familiar sharpness that cut through the crème fraîche and gave the fries a lovely piquant flavour. My wife went for the standard fries, which were also excellent. For dessert we shared the crème brûlée, and it was perfect. A lovely wine suggestion at a very reasonable price rounded the meal off beautifully. This place completely overturned our first impressions of “the only restaurant in town.” It clearly thrives on the quality of its food, its fantastic waiting staff, and a warm atmosphere full of happy diners enjoying their meal. One last note: if you fancy something simpler, or you’re dining with children, they also serve pizzas — and from the looks of it, from a proper pizza oven.

Always good!! We are eating here always the finest steak with “morilles” we love it. And the poivrons, Best food in town, with the nicest service!
