Avis
I discovered this gallery at Paris Photo and was genuinely impressed by their selection — especially Martin Parr. I returned to visit their space recently, mainly to see more of their collection. The current exhibition, “Golden Memory” by Lee Shulman, is beautiful. I was particularly intrigued by the photograph of the lady in a red coat with the mountain range in the background — absolutely mesmerizing. I was looking for more information about Shulman’s work when a staff member finally approached us. Instead of asking whether we had any questions or if we were interested in the exhibition, he immediately steered us straight to the small area where the gallery sells posters, as if that was all we could be interested in. I mentioned our earlier encounter at Paris Photo — no reaction. I asked about seeing more artists — he listed names in a monotone, disinterested voice. I asked whether we could see samples (prints, books, anything) — his answer was: “Real collectors usually know what they are looking for, and we show on demand.” (Can you imagine ?!?!) Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere a gallery should aim for. The artists they represent truly deserve better. I came specifically hoping to see works like G.Z.’s elevator, Roy’s Motel, New Brighton by Martin Parr, or pieces by the artist who creates those romantic, Chopin-inspired flower gardens. Instead, the interaction made it clear he had already decided I was just a tourist who might buy a poster. Practical note: I visited twice, cycling all the way from the other side of Paris in cold weather — the first time the gallery was closed despite Google Maps showing it as open.
Excellent

Jolie galerie, un peu cachée. Très belles expositions, de l’espace, une librairie et de jolis tirages.
