Really excellent experience at Maison de Marie. The service was genuinely outstanding: attentive without being overbearing, very friendly, and the staff all had a great sense of humour which made the whole atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming. The food was also fantastic. The foie gras was rich and beautifully prepared, the prawn linguine came with genuinely succulent prawns, and both the gnocchi and escargot were excellent. Everything felt fresh, well cooked, and full of flavour. The only small point worth mentioning is that the kitchen closes at 2:30pm, which felt a little unusual for a beach town restaurant. It also meant some fish dishes , particularly anything requiring longer preparation, were unavailable, so the menu became a bit more limited later into lunch service. That aside, we had a brilliant meal and would happily return. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable atmosphere.
We had a wonderful dinner at La Maison de Marie in Nice while celebrating with a party of 4. We ordered several different dishes to share, and everything was excellent. The highlight of the evening was definitely the lamb shoulder for two – it was incredibly tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, making it great value for the quality of the food. To finish the meal, we ordered the Pavlova for dessert, and it was an absolute must-have! Light, fresh, and beautifully presented, it was the perfect ending to a fantastic dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We would highly recommend La Maison de Marie to anyone visiting Nice and looking for a memorable meal. We will definitely return on our next trip!
Great food, but the terrible service ruined our final night in France. The chefs here are incredibly talented. The beef with ravioli and the seafood in bisque sauce were fantastic. Sadly, the front of house staff ruined the hard work of the kitchen. We were ignored for 30 minutes after being seated, while tables who arrived after us ordered first. No focaccia is served while other tables got served once seated. After finally getting our food (which came out quickly), trying to pay took forever. Two different servers ignored our request for the bill, and my partner had to stand up at the table like a beacon just to get someone to take our money. A simple meal of just mains and drinks dragged on for 2.5 hours solely due to staff incompetency. Instead of a nice final stroll through Nice, we had to sprint to the train station. Brilliant kitchen, but the service is lacking and is an absolute joke.
I absolutely loved La maison de Marie. The ambiance was romantic, not too loud, spacious and warm. Service was professional as well and spoke well both French and English. The food was fantastic - fresh, beautifully presented, and unique in terms of flavor. I ordered beef tartare, fries and salmon gravlax. Prices were okay as well, reasonable as for the quality of what we got. Definitely recommend! Will come back for sure :)
Food was exquisite! I had a ceviche for appetizer and grilled sea bass with a parsnip mash for entree. My husband had the beef tartare as an appetizer and the lamb with couscous for entree, everything was delicious and well made. Service was excellent!
The restaurant is in a beautiful lovely mansion with elegant garden. The food is exquisite and the service is very nice. They are very popular so book in advance or go early for dinner
The concierge recommended this restaurant and the beef stew. I sat in the garden, which is the most lovely outdoor experience. My waitress, Lorna, spoke English very well and was very friendly and attentive! (The next time I came to the restaurant she even came to my table to say hi. So lovely!) She also recommended the beef stew with raviolis and it was served quickly & hot!! I found myself chewing with my eyes closed, it was so good😂 All of the dishes served looked delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy their food and atmosphere. I keep returning because they have the best beef stew in France with the most kind serving staff! Make a reservation as this restaurant is highly desirable. It’s hidden down an alley and you can only see a small square sign In red above eye level as you walk by..
If you want an authentic taste of Nice, La Maison de Marie is a must. The courtyard vibe is unmatched—cozy, hidden, and full of charm. The Daube Niçoise was incredibly tender and rich, and the Petits Farcis were seasoned perfectly. Paired with a great glass of wine, it was easily the best meal of our trip. 🍷🥘 As for the service? It was "typically French"—a bit brusque and not exactly warm, but it almost added to the local authenticity!
