Fantastic and friendly welcome from the owner who took the time to present the whole story of her family and property, then excellent wine tasting and purchased 2 delicious cases of 6 bottles.
Château de Corbiac - a hidden gem in the heart of the Pécharmant wine-producing region We visited Château de Corbiac on our way from Bordeaux to Sarlat, and it quickly became one of the absolute highlights of our trip. This is a genuine, centuries-old family estate run by the 17th generation of the same family - you feel the history and care the moment you arrive. The setting is wonderfully peaceful. The château sits tucked between gentle hills, creating a quiet, almost timeless atmosphere. We drove up, parked, and initially wondered if we were in the right place, but an open door and a warm welcome quickly put us at ease. Inside, just a handful of other visitors, giving the tasting a personal, intimate feel rather than a crowded tourist experience. Thérèse de Corbiac personally ran the tasting - charming, witty, and clearly passionate about her wines. She poured generous tastings across several vintages, each one more impressive than the last. The wines are elegant and fruit-forward, with minimal oak - refreshingly different from heavily oaked Bordeaux styles. Rich black fruits, silky tannins, and wonderful depth. We ended up buying four bottles - 2012, 2016, 2018, and 2020 - to enjoy in Sarlat, though we wished we could have taken more home to Spain. We were delighted to discover that Château Corbiac ships internationally direct from their website - our next order is already being planned! As we were leaving, we paused to look back at the château on the hill - a large dog lazily sunbathing, nothing but birdsong in the background. Pure serenity. Merci Therese!!!
We were warmly welcomed by Madame Corbiac herself. The vineyard is stunning, and we were charmed by her Great Pyrenees dogs roaming the grounds like the estate’s unofficial guardians. We tasted through three vintages: the 2012, 2018, and 2019. All three were exceptional, but the 2018 was a particular standout. Madame Corbiac mentioned that online sales are in the works, which is wonderful news. We picked up a bottle to enjoy on the trip and are already looking forward to ordering more once the shop is live. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!
Wonderful wine, up a long driveway, away from the “hustle and bustle” off the main road, is a beautiful chateau with a strong wine family heritage. Definitely underrated, and shouldn't be missed. Simple wine tasting, putting their product out front, and it's a must-see.
Found the Chateau during my motorcycle tour in Dordogne. It was lovely to try the wines (just a little sip needed to drive on with the bike) and I enjoyed talking to Madame and learn the history of this wine. Of course I did an order to be shipped back to Ireland.
What a lovely afternoon I had enjoying this spectacular wine with my friends. The owner shares not only the nuances and notes of the wine, but also the long history of the winery. You must go to this vineyard when in France.
We stopped at the Chateau on the way back to Bordeaux from the Dordogne. Therese gave us a terrific tasting of the wines- red and white- and told us about the history and viticulture of the winery. Really interesting and hospitable visit- an authentic working winery- not a tourist trap. Would recommend to all!
Beautiful surroundings and authentic buildings. No commercial fuss, just a place where you can truly taste history. The hostess spoke with pride and passion about the family’s wonderful wines. We thoroughly enjoyed the tasting and are happy to have taken a few bottles home.
