RASHOYAN ARAM

Cahors was our base for two weeks of cycling in the area around the city ("en étoile"). We planned our routes using GPX files mostly downloaded from a website provided by the Cahors tourist office. The weather was perfect for cycling: sunny with moderate temperatures. We stayed in an apartment in the old section of town, close to the Cathedral, the bi-weekly market and good restaurants. The streets around the apartment were too narrow for our car, so we parked it in a free parking area across the river (a ten-minute walk from the apartment). Overall, an excellent experience.

This is a lovely town, in the loop of the river Lot, to walk around. There is lots to do and see with lovely shops and cobbled streets. A visit to the Pont Valentre and the cathederal is a must and in nice weather a view over the city from the view point on the nearby hill is a bonus. This town is motorhome friendly with a free car park just on the outskirts on the outside of the river 10 mins walk into the town. Highly recommend.

Very good tourist office. open on Weekends. friendly staff who speak different languages which are helpful. If you are walking on the camino GR65, you can find the miam miam do do guidebook in the shop.

The capital of the Lot department in south-western France. Its site is dramatic, being contained on three sides within a U-shaped bend in the River Lot known as the presqu'île. Dee the mediaeval quarter and the 14th-century fortified Valentré bridge.

Informative, not just about the town and surrounding area but has information on Lot department and wider area. Some staff speak several languages and are very helpful. The elegant building also houses an old timber panelled library (open sometimes to visit) and is well located near the old town, shops and Amphitheatre car park (with Roman ruins inside!)

Very helpful. Look out for the old bridge. Go see the cathedral with old and much newer stained glass windows, and a less than obvious cloister.

Extremely helpful, in your choice of language. Don't miss degustation at Villa Malbec immediately next door - every Malbec wine available.
