LE CLOS DE CLAIRE FONTAINE

My wife and I booked this for my big birthday treat and a weekend at Vienne Jazz Festival. The location for visiting Vienne is close with an easy short drive to the town. In fact you can see the motorway clearly and close up from the terrace and the main hotel.|Our Best comments are reserved for the food, dishes at the excellent Michelin starred gourmet dinner. Philippe Girardon and his kitchen team must be congratulated for outstanding plates of food. We also would like to single out the customer focused, smiling, attentive, positive Amelie Girardon who single handedly focuses on guests. The chef Philippe, unusually for Michelin stars, did not make an appearance at any time during dinner, where the restaurant was full.|Unfortunately, with the exception of the above points, our stay was neither up to hoped-for 4 star hotel expectations nor unfortunately for us was it enjoyable.|On arriving at the agreed time of 4pm, we were shown to a room in the garden Annexe (#105) which is looking tired, in need of redecoration (window frames and walls) and dark … this was not a beautiful room in the old hotel of which photos abound on the website. My wife expressed disappointment with the room (200 euros per night) but there was no offer to change due to hotel being full.|We asked if we could sit under the parasols on the lawn terrace and order a tea/coffee. After being seated we waited 20 minutes for a member of staff to appear before going back to reception to order …. Temperature outside was 36C under the parasol so we asked also for a carafe of water, but were told firmly by the Patronne, Laurence Girardon, that if we wanted water we should consume the 2 small plastic bottles provided in our bedroom ! So we did as she had ordered us !! The driveway is very dusty, so there are frequent clouds of dust down to the terrace as guests arrive at the hotel. Very very thirsty and wanting to start birthday celebrations, we tried to order a Gin Tonic but were told by another member of

Great place to stay for one night! The area is really nice, but rooms are quite old. Food (dinner and breakfast) was above our expectations, it was very authentic and delicious! Staff was friendly and polite too ❤️ The hotel is dog friendly and there is a good lawn to walk with your dog 🐶

Personalized, energizing and relaxing stay at Domaine de Clairefontaine at a fabulous family company STRENGTHS The personalised service from Laurence the owner whom is already running this business for about +30 years. I have a lot of respect for building such a great, personalised & refined boutique hotel with 18 hotel rooms and a refined restaurant. She was super accommodating & caring for our beloved labrador dog Bailey, they left dog treats in the room, took really the time to engage with me in a conversation. As I enjoyed it so much, I recommended it to my parents in law too, which will be staying with you in October. POINTS OF IMPROVEMENT If I had to mention a couple of detailed point of improvements, it would be as follows: - 1. No room glossary with phone numbers. They offered me luggage support to my car, but could not ring them with the internal phone, so had to call via my own personal phone. Might be an idea - 2. Lovely breakfast buffet, with a fresh à la carte breakfast offering, however, in such a beautiful boutique hotel in the French countryside of Condrieu / Rhône, you would expect a refined barista offering, instead of Nespresso (my subjective opinion) - 3. It was a shame the restaurant wasn't open, they offered me a different dining option instead one day prior to arrival, which I thought was a great gesture, but I already had booked a different

Our weekend stay here was impeccable - excellent service and attention to details. A very reasonable price for a four-star stay. Our evening meal in the restaurant is just one more reason we will be back soon. Mille mercis to Monsieur Philippe Giradon, the expert chef and host of Domaine de Clairefontaine and the entire staff who made our stay unforgettable.

home away from home - that was the feeling we had - never been there before - coming back for sure. Nice welcome, great food and service. Nice large room, friendly staff in the reception, The food on the one-star restaurant was excellent and the service here was the best. Our stay ended with a very good breakfast. Thank you

We have stayed here previously and were drawn back by the opulent splendor of the establishment and professionalism all around. Once again the experience was magical from the minute we arrived, greeted by the swan in the pond, large lawns and terrace, majestic building, annexe and the avenue of trees. We opted for and ate at the Cottage bistro, as opposed to the michelin within the main building purely as we wanted a less formal atmosphere however both are celebrated food institutions. The chef is renowned and once you taste his fair, it is no wonder he is so respected, absolutely wonderful. Our room large, balcony with seating, beautiful decor, large bathroom/shower, quiet, cleanliness perfect, all good and we will return in a few months

We stayed here for 3 days in August. The hotel is in two parts separated by a short distance. The main chateau houses the gastronomic restaurant and the more comfortable rooms (these are mainly in a separate building nearby). There is a large park surrounding the buildings. Then there is the Cottage nearby, a modern restaurant with more basic rooms. (I've stayed here before, while returning from a 70th birthday party in Aix-en-Province)||||The food at the Cottage is good but less elaborate. This time I had the best hamburger I have ever eaten ()given the general level of this dish this isn't setting the bar very high but still welcome).. The rooms at the main part are very comfortable and the gastronomic restaurant is exceptional. And since we are in the Rhone valley the wine list takes some beating.

Nice hotel with a charming scenery. The staff is very friendly, rooms in the new build part are of generous size. We did not experience the Michelin starred restaurant but their bistrot 5 min away was certainly an experience.
