We highly recommend Marnie & Mister H which is owned by Marion, a very friendly and knowledgeable host who gave us plenty of information of things to see in Rennes and beyond. In addition, she is a great cook, during our stay she prepared home made pancakes and pear cake which was served in addition to an already generous breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolat, fruit, yoghurt, bread & jam, cheese & selection of cold meats. The location is excellent in the heart of the old town with so many facilities, sights, restaurants and shops as soon as you step out the door. We loved the atmosphere of the 15th/16th Century building with the old staircase and lovely dining room with the unique fireplace. Our room "Oscar" was very clean and the bed & pillows were so comfortable. All the rooms have names rather than numbers which is a nice touch. Our room overlooked a terrace area that guests can use and there was no noise at all, it is a nice quiet location but at the same time very central. We are already looking forward to going back next year. Thank you Marion
This place is in the centre of Rennes, it is a 15th century house full of character. The owner is a lovely person who looked after us during our stay she gave us advice on where to go visit. Great breakfast and she also upgraded our room for our stay.
Excellent stay in the Oscar suite at Marnie & Mister H! The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. The building is so unique, and the location (right downtown) excellent. We walked to shopping and dinner, and had an outstanding evening in town. I loved the courtyard where we could sit and read, and breakfast the next morning was amazing (especially the apple cake). I wish we could have stayed longer!
What a treat! We stayed in the Marnie room, and loved the decoration and the space. Very friendly hostess, speaks English if you need that (we did) and bang in the middle of old town. A shame we only stayed one night.
This was a wonderful place to stay. It was in the middle of the oldest area of Rennes, in a very old building in which the historic features were retained while adding a modern bathroom. The room was comfortable and pleasant, and the proprietors were beyond helpful. I had hurt my leg prior to my stay and the only issue for me was that there was no elevator. (An elevator would not have been possible without compromising the historic nature of the building). A nice breakfast included in the stay. Hotel was just steps from restaurants and shops. | When I checked out, there was a foot race blocking the streets and the taxi to take me to the train station didn't come. The proprietor (proprietress?) took my big suitcase and walked with me to the metro which went right to the train station!!!
My husband and I met some friends and stayed at Marnie et Mister H together in March 2022. The hotel is in a perfect location! Close to the main Metro station (Republique), blocks away from the Marche des Lices, and a lovely walk to the old center of town, Sainte Anne. The building is older, as many in the area are, and has beautiful, well maintained original features. The owner of the hotel was kind and accommodating. She had great restaurant recommendations and served a delicious breakfast! We will absolutely be back on our next visit to Rennes.
This lovely B&B is located in a perfect location to explore Rennes. It is surrounded by countless restaurants and shops in the cobblestoned streets of the old city. It is well within walking distance to various parks and attractions. The building has loads of historic charm and with that, some people, especially North Americans, might find some of the features troublesome. For example, there is no lift and the stairs are uneven and worn by centuries of use. Charming, for sure, but pay attention to your steps. Our room had direct access to a beautiful relaxing outdoor courtyard. The bathroom was very tight and a large person would likely be quite uncomfortable in it. Our very gracious hostess served an excellent breakfast with an assortment of breads, yogurts, freshly made fruit salad and delicate hot crepes. Overall good value and highly recommended.
Best bnb we’ve stayed in. The location was perfect, the room was comfortable, very clean and exquisitely decorated. Our hostess was gracious and extremely helpful. Breakfast was off the scale delicious with fresh fruit, homemade cakes, croissants, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The overall attention to detail made this the perfect bnb experience. We will be back!! I
