What a great find! Easy walking distance from the village, the owner of this chateau has obviously spent a huge amount of time and effort restoring this place so the public can visit. There’s a great little cafe with the most amazing views, the toilets are also really up together which is unusual in places like this! Great to be able to walk around places like this and get a feel for all the history that happened.

One of the best chateaus I’ve visited. Part of Richard the lion heart is buried here. The room where he died is decorated beautifully and it plays music, which makes it super fun. There are knight statues. Also you can access the tower, from which an archer shoot Richard. Definitely recommended. And their gift shop was amazing!!! Spent so much time there looking at stuff and bought many souvenirs

Visited here with my young children on our visit to France. We were very impressed. Everything is so clean and tidy, staff were friendly and lots of history untouched. We loved going up the tower and seeing some stunning views. Loved the authenticity and history behind the castle. Would definitely recommend and go again. Thank you.

My daughter and I visited in early August, and what a superb experience. I’ve always wanted to go and visit the place wheee Richard the Lionheart met his untimely end, some of his remains buried in the medieval chapel, and Châlus did not disappoint. There is a short video explaining the history, before you enter, a lovely little brocante, and restaurant, with incredible views. The owner has taken great care to keep the history alive, and we absolutely loved our visit, and would highly recommend.

A great experience, the area is well maintained with lots of history and is definitely worth the price and visit. Food and drinks on site. Parking can be a little tight but not impossible. Visited on 8/16/2024

Impressing castle where lionheart was killed. Nice owners worth seeing. Dog friendly!

Interesting chateau visit. 6 euros for an adult, fabulous friendly welcome and a great explanation of the history on arrival.

Just amazing. Wonderful history with superbly interesting owners. We will be back well worth 6€
