Thought I'd try this part of France as I'd never been before. Found this hotel at the last minute via the Tourist Office in Anglet. Only 300m from one of the gorgeous 11 beaches in the area. The hotel, whilst probably in need of a little refurbishment, was lovely and the staff were so helpful, despite me speaking little French and them speaking little English! The rooms are very small but perfect for solo travellers or couples, but they all have a small terrace and nice clean bathrooms. The breakfasts are continental but there are plenty of choices and, although I didn't have any other meals at the hotel, the smells from the restaurant were very tempting! The hotel caters for families in the summer so I guess it can get very busy, but I went in September and it was lovely and quiet. There was also a lovely pool with plenty of sunloungers and a bar with a viewing deck to watch the beautiful sunsets over the ocean. I got the feeling that British people don't really visit this part of France much, which is a shame as the area is beautiful and the people really friendly. There are plenty of beach bars, restaurants and shops in the area and a bus ride to Biarritz is only 1 euro and takes 20 mins. This is amazing part of the county and well worth a visit, and if you want somewhere reasonably cheap and simple and close to the beach, the Azureva is perfect. I will definitely be going back.
Very run down place. This place needs an urgent makeover. Nice view and location near the beach, but my shower was broken when I got to the room, I was able to fix it so I could take a shower but hanging by a thread. The room lacks a fan and the window cannot be opened so I slept with the door opened and of course I was opening my eyes thoughout the night to make sure no one broke in… there was no hand soap. And lastly, I don't know what type of people go there but the guy upstairs peed through the balcony from the second floor in the middle of the night.
Very well located, it offers small, simple, yet clean rooms, a pool, tennis court, ping pong table, pool table and restaurant. There is also a petanque field. There is a great car park and it sits within a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Budget hotel for the price of a classy one. This hotel was probably awesome when it was built back in the day, but now it falls far behind others in a lot of ways. Tiny rooms with torn off wallpaper and dark and deserted corridors gives off that good old sanatorium vibe. This hotel should've been rejuvenated long ago. The clientele is generally families with small kids, pensioners or surfdudes. Location is great, food is so and so, pool area is ok. + for tennis courts.
The staff were all very helpful and most were fluent in English. The receptionist helped us to find good places to go shopping and to use the buses as there are many buses around the hotel that get you pretty much everywhere. The breakfast was also delicious and oferred pastries, cereal, yogurt, coffees and baguettes including other options. I had a garden view which was beautiful. There were many staff looking after the accomidation and the pool was very clean even though it wasn't open yet. I would recommend this accomidation especially for it's affordable price
First of all, this hotel has two stars so you can't expect a 5 star treatment. The room are a bit small and you are expected to clean your own room. The buffet was varied and French. Don't expect bacon for breakfast. However my family had a fabulous time there. The view of the ocean from the main terrace is incredible. You are 3 mins walk from the beach, 40 mins walk from Biarritz, There is lots of free shuttle to take you to Bayonne, Biarritz or other places. Anglet is the best spot for surf ing or learning to surf and the hotel team was fantastic, trying really hard to make your holiday memorable! If you want the French experience then this hotel is for you as most guests are French so perfect for speaking French and you'll have your morning coffee or chocolat chaud in bowls, French style.
Just came back from Azureva Anglet. For a 2 star hotel, we had excellent experience. Varied food served everyday at each meal. Furthermore my boys enjoyed all the facilities: swimming pool, tennis court, basket court, volley court, play room with video games and ping pong table as well as the weekly laser game outing with the kids club. The location of the hotel is perfect with a view of the ocean and near the surfing spots and Biarritz. Buses are cheap to visit Bayonne too. Staff were really friendly and helpful, the hotel bar cheap. The only drawback could be the size of the rooms. It was fine for us but some might find them too small. To sum up a great little 2 stars hotel with lots to offer in the Basque country.
Positive:||||Splendid view of the ocean from the balcony of our room (#308). Within walking distance of beach and seaside restaurants. Off-season not too crowded, and reasonably easy to find parking on-site.||||Negative:||||This should not be considered as a hotel - it's a holiday village offering hotel accommodation. The rooms are quite cramped, and clothes have to hang in an open cabinet in the extremely small bathroom. Free, but slow internet, faster, paid, connectivity available. No TV in rooms. No change of sheets or towels is included in the "hotel" formula, nor is any kind of cleaning performed between arrival and departure. A buffet breakfast is possible (7 EUR/pax), but only until 9 AM. Considering the level of services, and even taking into account the location, the price is quite expensive.
