Villia Meridia is a tiny sanctuary in a very busy Nimes. Entirely renovated in the last three years, the rooms, and the entire building look new while retaining their 100+ year heritage. Our room was terrific. Firm matress, lovely linens, well appointed bathroom. The pool and garden looked lovely, but a bit too cool for us to enjoy in March. Le petit déjeuner, tout fait à la maison was delicious. Thank you Jonathon for a lovely stay.
This is like a cross between Four Seasons comfort and service, and a beautiful yet cosy villa of a long standing friend where one feels at home. Beautifully renovated villa with lovely garden, with 5 star bed and breakfast service to boot. Meridia is full of thoughtful touches - filtered water, daily in ones room, Nespresso, beautiful loose tea, slippers, robe, maps; timetables, poolside reading, candles to meet you on the stairs upon your late evening return. Best of all, Jonathan the owner is just wonderful, he could not do enough and thd man bakes mean breakfast goodies as well. Breakfast here is terrific, even if you are gluten free, Jonathan goes out of his way to accommodate. Gorgeous yoghurt, pot of fruit salad daily, homemade jams, fresh orange juice, great coffee, and on my last breakfast of the 4 nights, I had cheeses as i am more of a savoury person so Jonathan sorted that out unsolicited. That said, his coconut and lime muffins were something else! Location is brilliant, 5-7min walk to the centre, 15min wall to the arena, etc.. Why would anyone stay anywhere else on one's trip to wonderful Nimes is beyond me! Heartily recommended!
What a fantastic place Villa meridia is. We stayed in what I would desribe as the spacious apartment room with sitting room, balcony and large bedroom. The villa is located about a half an hour walk from the train station in a quiet area of the City and an ideal location for all the major sights including the Jardin du Fountain and the Maison Carree which are both less than a 5 minute walk away and the Arena about 15 minutes. Jonathan was the ideal host providing restuarant recommendations and making reservations when required. He was attentive without being obtrusive. Most of the time breakfast was served in the garden with homemade muesli, fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as home baked pastry. We can't fault the Villa Meridia and would not hesitate to stay again.
We had a great short break at Villa Meridia, staying 3 nights. Fantastic location, very quiet but easy to walk into the main part of town. Very clean, spacious and comfortable room(s). Nice outside space for relaxing. Lovely welcome and breakfast is amazing and very plentiful! Thank you!
Stayed here beginning of June. Weather was rainy but not cold. This is sort of a bed & breakfast place. The rental has a large bedroom, good size living room, separate toilet room from bathroom, a private enclosed patio. It’s on the third floor with stairs. Since it is like a B&B it does not have an elevator. It’s walkable distance to restaurants and shops and the historical sites. ||Bedroom: Bed is very comfortable. Plenty of space to hang close and storage area. Windows open in case you want fresh air. AC works but seemed to take a long time to get cool. ||Bathroom: there is a large bathtub and comes with a shower handle. However, there’s no place to actually take a shower because there isn’t a handle holder or a shower curtain. Hubby and I had to hold the shower handle for each other. The water splashed all over outside of the tub. We had to use the pool towels to set on the floor in order not to get water all over the floor. Even though the tub looks inviting, who has time to take a full bath when you are trying to get ready to go out. Two bath towels were provided. No hand towels or wash cloths. Every time we washed our hands we had to use our bath towels. ||Living room: includes a tiny refrigerator. No bottled water provided. ||Pool: it’s a cold water pool. Not sure how hot it gets in the summer and a cold plunge might feel good on hot days but it wasn’t hot during our stay so couldn’t use the pool.||Breakfast: is the normal French breakfast. We did not get breakfast during our stay due to leaving early every morning. ||No safe in the rooms in case you were wondering. Neighborhood is quiet. Mostly families in the area. There’s a small market two blocks away for water, drinks and munchies. There’s also a laundromat next to the small market.
We had an extremely relaxing and beautiful 3 nights at Villa Meridia. Our room (more like an apartment, really) was very spacious and extremely comfortable. And the private terrace was really delightful. The bed linens and mattress were of very high quality and the neighbourhood was quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. Jonathan is extremely responsive to all requests and questions, prepares a beautiful and healthy breakfast which we enjoyed each morning in the shaded garden. The decor at Villa Meridia is tasteful and elegant yet comfortable. And a 5-minute walk leads you to the old town and all its restaurants and attractions. Merci Jonathan!
Villa Meridia is a great place. The location is adjacent to Nime's beautiful city center (the impressive Roman Arena is a short walk away), and the immediate neighborhood is quiet and attractive. The house is majestic and the rooms are spacious and tasteful. The courtyard is outstanding: a beautiful space with an awesome salt water pool (most appreciated in the July heat). Finally, Jonathan, the owner, is a great asset. His breakfasts are excellent (fresh squeezed OJ!) and he is a font of helpful knowledge. We hope to return soon.
The location, our room, the breakfasts each morning alfresco by the pool with fresh squeezed orange juice, cappuccinos, homemade pastries, fresh fruit, bread, yogurt, and granola, along with the service throughout were exceptional! Staying at the Villa Meridia made our visit to Nimes a magical experience.
