Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport is a well-organized international airport located about 25 km from Lyon city center. The airport offers efficient passenger flow, clear signage, and relatively smooth security and boarding processes compared to larger European hubs. The terminal layout is functional and easy to navigate, with good availability of essential services including dining options, retail stores, and car rental facilities. Cleanliness and maintenance standards are consistently high. Transportation access is a strong point, with the Rhônexpress providing a fast and reliable connection to the city center. Parking infrastructure is also well-developed for those traveling by car. Peak travel times can lead to moderate congestion, but overall operations remain efficient. The airport is suitable for both domestic and international travel, offering a balanced mix of convenience and service quality.

Modern clean and very beautiful architecture the crew is very helpful and welcoming if you face any issues they try their best to help you out and they really are emphatic. The transportation is good like bus 200 for cheaper option you can reach at airport in just 2.5 euro from downtown and it operate till 23:30.

What a disgrace of airport. Avoid at all costs! Best to pay more for your flight than stop here. I have a connection flight from Spain, and when landed I had to queue for 2 hours to pass through security. With 6 desk and the electronic ones, they only had 2 desks opened with quite unprofessional and rude professionals. Ridiculous! When asked in English why was the new “security check enforcement” not actually done in an efficient way to prevent such long queue the lady responded in French, almost offended. No empathy, no understanding of the situation and frustration, no professionalism. On top of that, although my connection flight is from same terminal, I had to exit to then go again through security control, which again is a painful experience. I’m now queueing to pass through and get my second flight. Overall a nightmare of an experience. Disgraceful.

We have taken Lyon airport to go to Grenoble twice from Bangalore. Both times we had a great experience in navigating through airport at all points. Just at the arrivals of the airport we have buses and trains to different parts of France near to Lyon. Airport itself is quite small but very calm and not flooded by passengers. Checkin for Emirates is at ground level and has 9 counters where staff work very efficiently to clear the process. All level 1 we have security check after we took an elevator showing the arrow for boarding. Only issue is that you cannot see any sign board as security. Security check is quite quick irrespective of long queues. They have many belts. The only confusion for was that no where there were sign boards for immigration/pasport authority. After the security we were only seeing the boarding gates. Only after taking that route we could see the immigration counters. They were manned by only 2 officials. Even then ours was done very quickly. Compared to Paris airport we found that Lyon is really very cool and superb airport for our requirement.

We arrived at Lyon Airport and unfortunately had to wait a very long time at passport control. There were not enough staff members working, and we waited for more than an hour in line. In my opinion, this is not reasonable for an international airport, and it is definitely something that should be improved. On the way back, the process was much faster, so the departure experience was better. Another annoying point is the location of the duty free shops. Most of the duty free area is before passport control, so once you pass border control, you cannot go back to the shops. After that, you are basically left with only a couple of vending machines near the boarding gate, which is quite disappointing. Overall, the airport is okay, but passport control and the shopping layout after security definitely need improvement.

Small but handy and clean airport. They try to keep everything nice. But if you plan to increase the travellers you need to think about English language also in your sign boards and display boards also announcements. Its really difficult to non-french person to know everything if its non-english. Update Second time also visiting in 2026. One consideration should be put on to Breakfast buffet. Much variation and also consider increasing vegetarian crowd.

A very lovely airport, with great infrastructure and easy to reach. I was able to use the fast track security, so might be biased, but it was super smooth and it only took around 5 minutes. I would gladly fly again from Lyon :)

Try avoiding this airport, I had a 2 hours wait in immigration, then a simple sandwich and drink 14€, having come from London Gatwick where I could get a better sandwich drink and stack for 4£ I couldn't believe it almost triple the price and the sandwich was rubbish. On top of this because the immigration took so long by the time we arrived and it came to collecting our bags someone had taken them off the bag drop belt and just left them there in the middle of the hall for anyone to come and freely steal. Really disappointed and it's a shame my return flight is from here.
