Hospital Center De Périgueux Centre Hospitalier de Périgueux October 2025: I continue being flabbergasted by the precision of French administration. I don't think French nationals appreciate the great system they have (given the negative reviews, which are TRULY perplexing to me! 🤨). My host had to meet with a specialist, who has been treating him, and I was truly floored 🤩😍 by the helpful and positive nature of this hospital system. And their coffee shop was actually quite good, with a nice terrace view of the city. (Dear French People, you're very lucky in your administration systems. Congrats! 👍🏽🇫🇷👍🏽)

Clean and well organised hospital. Very nice spot, easy parking and closed to downtown! And, there’s a cafe shop with the best view!

I am under dermatology and cardiology at Perigueux hospital. Both of those doctors are absolutely excellent. However, today I had a RDV with the Rhumatologue. She was most unpleasant, uncaring and very judgemental! If you don't speak a high level of french? Don't bother! As she seemed more concerned about that, than my condition. Zero stars for her!

My husband spent many weeks in this hospital due to an infection of a heart valve. He was moved from Cardiac to Intensive care back to cardiac then onto Maladie Infectieuse then back to Intensive care, eventually transferred to Bordeaux for life saving treatment. The care that he received in most of these départements was exceptional and though there were mistakes made in Cardiology we were blessed with outstanding care in all of the other departments. Especially from Doctor Mario and the Infermiere called Amandine in Maladie Infectieuse who was the kindest, compassionate and caring nurse that anyone could wish for. Thank you to everybody who played a part in the treatment of my husband who eventually successfully battled sepsis and underwent open heart surgery. Merci

The 2 women at the reception desk to register you at the emergencies department are the rudest, most ill mannered and uncaring people I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Lurch, the mask monitor at the door deserves a mention too as he barked aggressively at people 'mask'! People who had waited for hours in there where treated with contempt while they all seemed to laugh and joke amongst themselves. The unfortunates who had managed to get beyond reception to be seen by a doctor where all left on trolleys in a corridor for hours. After an hour drive to get there then waiting for 3 hours we asked how much longer we would be waiting, we were told it could be several hours more and if we were not happy with that we could basically leave. Eventually we had to leave without seeing a doctor because we have animals at home who needed attention and another 1 hour drive home. I can't say how the doctors would have been as we never saw one. If you have an emergency, I would suggest going somewhere else. Shameful lack of empathy, urgency and manners.

After reading previous reviews I was a little concerned that my wife would be having our baby there. I can only say that the care and attention shown to both my wife and new baby was exemplary. Our son had a little problem after a hurried delivery and I could not have asked for better care. My wife had a spotlessly clean room and and although we do not speak French we managed - and I have to say it was on a par with private hospitals. The only negative is that car parking is extremely difficult and limited.

I have absolutely no hesitation in awarding CHU Périgueux 5 stars for my recent visits and operations. At all times they were courteous, professional and friendly. A very spécial note for the 3rd floor - a great team, right from the surgeons through to the nursing and cleaning staff. I wish them all the successes for the coming year.

Whilst visiting from Australia my wife fell heavily in a street of the old town of Sarlat. Immediately it was obvious of injury. The local people responded marvellously and within 10 minutes she was in an ambulance and taken to Sarlat hospital where straight in for an x-ray. Within 1.5 hours of the accident we were informed that she had a double fracture of her right thigh and as Sarlat could not handle such an injury she would be transferred to Périgueux. By 14.00 she was in an ambulance, great people, on her way to Perigueux. On arrival she waited in emergency for a consultation from the orthopaedic specialist. Soon after 18.00 Monday June 3 her x-ray was examined and the diagnosis was that surgery was not required but she must remain lying on her back for 3 months and time would heal. She was placed a a twin room, the nursing staff quite caring and the food good however nothing happened. We were assured the surgeon would write a report with his recommendations, in the meantime the nursing stall would endeavour to find a rehabilitation facility as the doctor would not permit any air travel for 3 months. During the next couple of days the story was the same but still no report from the surgeon. At no stage was she visited by the surgeon or a doctor, she was just lying flat on her back not being able to move. By Thursday, 3 days after the accident it was obvious that nothing was happening despite our requests for the surgeons report. Enquiries were made of alternative facilities and when we presented the x-ray to Médipôle Garonne in Toulouse we were advised that extensive surgery was necessary so we made arrangements to have her moved on the Friday prior to the long weekend. When we informed the administration of the move they tried to prevent it and would not cooperate in arranging the ambulance, I had to do this on my own and not being French speaking. Eventually in the afternoon on Friday Loraine was in an ambulance along with nothing done to her hip/thigh but t
