Avis
Be careful with this bus route when relying on it to take a train. Don’t rely on the timetables. The bus was leaving on its way to the Money garden parking bus stop just as we were getting close to the train station - over 30 minutes late. The other small train was just as bad. Also the time tables at the stop don’t match what’s online, and there’s no way to tell where the bus is. This was on a Sunday so who knows if it’s typical. Still, you need accurate pick up times to get to the train on time.
Train station. Somewhat undermanned at busier moments, though that only happens every couple of hours. Connections here for other transport into Giverny. SN Go shuttle busses, mini train, bikes, and taxis. Take some time to visit the historic Vernon town center just a few blocks from the station.
When the train from Gare de Lazares arrived, station staff were giving advices on transportation to Fondation Monet in Giverny. The Le Petit Train Giveron costs 10 Euros for the round trip and includes guide to various interesting sites on both journeys, must be paid in cash. The toilet at the train only take 50 cent Euro (you can wait for the person to come out and quickly sneak in too).
This rating is strictly for the toilets. It's a great station but from past 3 years the public toilet which says 30 cents on the front is out of order. I wish to pay contact less fee instead of carrying 50 cents in my pocket. Please fix the payment option and open the toilets for public so everybody can use it. No one carries coins anymore.
We wanted to take public transportation to Giverny from Paris. Upon arriving at Vernon on a Saturday morning, we discovered that there were NO TRAINS RETURNING TO PARIS. The lady at the ticket window was clear about this, so we had to take an Uber to a nearby town.
We were trying to buy the tickets to go from Vernon to Bonnieres. We didn't understand what we had to do, so we went to ask the lady at the desk, hoping that we would get the help that we needed. When we asked her what we had to do, she started to act really rudely towards us, and she didn't even try to use the translator properly since we don't know French. All she did was talk to us really fast, telling us that we didn't have the right to buy those tickets. We ended up paying to get an Uber. Very bad service and attitude.
Well organized train station. Clear and visible signs for the shuttle to Giverny. Limited time for transfer, so we were lucky the train was punctual.
Friendly station workers and very helpful. Shuttle busses available just outside station for rides to Giverny. $5 each way
