It is Genuinly astonishing to see one of the most famous fortresses in ww1 in person, staff is really nice. There are many chambers in the fort and the guide that the staff gave is useful in understanding their functions The route inside the fort is well planed and not a lot of turn-around is needed The fort is very wet under the ground floor, be careful with electronic equipment(camera) It is amazing jst to stand on top of the fort and look at the shell craters and imagine what was happened 110 years ago Will take my friends to this place in thefuture
Massive underground fort with endless tunnels, rooms and history everywhere. Hard to believe thousands of soldiers lived here during the Battle of Verdun while everything above was being destroyed. Even the silence outside feels eerie now. Absolutely worth visiting.
It is an amazing place to visit, it would help if you know the history behind it. It’s a 1-2 hour visit with a bit of walking so wear comfortable shoes. You can walk around, on top of and inside the fort. Audio guides are available in French and English. You can buy a discount entrance ticket for both the fort and the memorial museum and it’s valid for 3 days.
It was quite foggy when I visited, so the visibility was low, but the atmosphere felt very unique and solemn. The outdoor area is well maintained and it’s still worth walking around. It would probably look even more impressive on a clear day.
Interesting visit to a WWI fort. Makes you realize what these guys went through. Bomb craters all around and bullet marks in the iron turrets. This was a hard battle. UNESCO World Heritage site.
An excellent place to visit, the staff were very helpful and the audio guide explained the and significance of the fort, as well as detailing what it was like in the fort during combat. Well worth a visit
The Size was impressive quite Cold and wet but that was described and was resembeling the war time Sadly it seemed quite empty and for what it was kinda expensive Without paying You could Walk on top of the whole fort its a pretty good Impression of how big the fort is and how much fighting there was. There is also a Great View and you don’t Need to Go there when its Open Personal was nice and spoke Englisch really well
Go see the film at the peace memorial first. I would recommend a guided tour for the fort. Reading the panels doesn't depict what went on at the fortress in a very interesting way.
