MURATI ANTOINE

Early mediaval church built with Italian black stones. Very small but a good stop on the road if you like early roman architecture.

Really interesting looking church. Well worth going as the view from it's location is stunning. And it is located right at the start of some great hikes up the hills.

Murato San Michele church is concidered to be one of the most beautiful churches in Corsica and no wonder why! Dating back to XII century, this church was built while Corsica was governed by Pisa so it has typical pisan two-colored style, with green serpentine and white limestone stripes which is similar to the prestigious buildings in Pisa and many churches in Tuscany. But it differs from it, especially in its much smaller size, like most of the pisan island buildings. PS. In order to visit the church you have to ask for the keys at Murato town hall. The ACCESSIBILITY is medium here since there is no pavement to the church, only land path, but at the same time there are no stairs neither so it might be not too difficult to come by a wheelchair.

Stunning build in the most scenic & remote location in Murato, 30mins drive from Saint Florent. A must see if driving past. I was lucky to see it as a friend was getting married there!
