We stayed here for a couple of nights and appreciated the quiet, residential location that was close to some main roads. Our room had 2 twin beds that were very comfortable. The room and the bathroom were cozy, but fine for 2 people. We really liked the breakfast-- the homemade yogurt and granola are highlights, but everything else was very nice. You'll get a carafe of coffee or pot of tea according to your preference. There is not daily room service (beds made or new towels), but that was fine with our short stay. We enjoyed exploring Biarritz, Bidart, and San Sebastien from here-- it's very convenient to all of these with a car. The access to the beach from the property is a bit of steep hike (too much for us), but there are several other beaches within a short drive.
The location near Biarritz and overlooking Bidart's beach is great, and so are the clean and spacious rooms. The swimming pool is a nice plus. These positives are unfortunately overshadowed by the absolute lack of empathy from the owner (who never smiled in 3 days) and the cleaning lady, who on our departure day, during breakfast at 9am, urged us in an unpolite manner to leave the room by the 11am deadline - although we had absolutely no intention to leave later and had no indicated anything to the contrary. These are important details which can greatly influence the overall experience and we were astonished to see that some experienced B&B owners still do not recognize that.
After a business trip to Bordeaux we decided to take a couple of personal days on the French west coast. We discovered Bista Eder and are glad we did. It is a few miles south of Biarritz and an easy drive (we rented a car after riding the train from Bordeaux). ||||The home is lovely and beautifully sited on a hilltop easily 125-150 feet above the sea. We had a top floor room and a double window that opened on to expansive views of the sea and surrounding countryside, which is beautiful. It is also west facing so sunset views were nothing short of spectacular as you can see by the photos. ||||The owner is very friendly although she only speaks a little English. No worries for us as my partner speaks fluent French. In the end there was not much need for dialog as everything was very easy and it was clear that breakfast was served from 830 to 1000 AM. ||||It consisted of fresh squeezed and delicious orange juice, Basque-style ham, cakes, French bread and coffee along with fresh fruit. It was not bountiful but adequate. There was an individual serving Nespresso machine in the room but it had only two capsules each day. ||||The house is lovely, well kept and furnishing nicely. The most outstanding feature is the large porch where breakfast is served and it faces the sea and grounds. Lovely !!||||The room was large and nicely appointed. Rooms were cleaned daily and there were only 5 other couples in the house so it was relatively quiet and the guests from all over Europe were quite nice. ||||The owner was gracious and accommodating although she and the other guests may not have been happy when we tried to sneak out of the house quietly at 700 AM. Impossible to do having to carry luggage down the stairs and out the door but we tried. ||||Overall, a very nice stay in a beautiful home situated on a magnificent hilltop with the magical Atlantic Ocean lapping up against the shore. You could hear the waves crashing with the windows open and it was relaxing and peaceful. ||||It
Eliane’s place is a gem with a stylish feel inside and panoramic views to the sea and beach which is 5 mins walk away. The breakfast was top quality, with little changes each day. Her home-made granola is to die for and the fresh warm croissants irresistible. The jacuzzi is a great bonus and we made the most of this each day. Shops are a few mins walk and Biarritz only a short drive away although we stayed around Bidart we liked it so much.|Eliane is a warm and welcoming host who made us feel at home and we would stay here again.||
The view can't be beaten, we were there by stormy weather and it was still incredible. The hostess is lovely, caring , friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our time there, the room is neat, the sea view is beautiful, the breakfast is stunning and there also is a pretty garden with Jacuzzi :) What else could one ask for. We warmly recommend this address to anyone looking for some quiet, stressless getaway. Mailys
I thought I would write this before I leave with everything fresh in my mind and also as there isn't a comprehensive English review on this site, although we are not the only British guests here at the moment, I thought I would provide one. I am sitting in the conservatory/ breakfast room whilst an epic storm takes place outside! We have been here four days out of five and have until now enjoyed beautiful weather. ||We have been in the "seaview" room which I think is the largest and the more expensive of the three rooms available. It is really lovely and we wake each morning to a most magical view of the Atlantic Ocean. There is a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Everything is well designed, we have plenty of good light to read by, charging points and strong wifi. As far as the house is concerned it is immaculately kept and we have had the benefit of secure gated parking which I think is available to those in the more expensive rooms. There are just two parking places. Otherwise it is parking on the quiet side street outside. It looks quite ordinary from the front but just wait until you get round the back. We enjoyed sitting out in the shade after our days out by the hot tub and twice had a picnic in the garden from the outstanding bakery just 100m away. It is 15 minutes walk to Bidart for various restaurants and there is also a very pleasant restaurant less than a mile away in the opposite direction run by three sisters. This is an expensive area so do not expect a bargain - but you do get what you pay for here ' great quality. We ate out three times and walked each time. There is lots going on in the area in the summer but it is very busy in August. We made easy trips to Biarritz, St Jean, San Sebastien - by train from Hendaye and up into the Pyrenees for the Rhune train and the other St Jean!||Madame Eliane is absolutely charming and will be as welcoming and as helpful as you want her to be - she is discreet but available. She will let you have a go a
We stayed her for 2 nights, the view is amazing and the beach is very close. We had a room without an ocean view bc it wasn't available. Very clean, well decorated and comfortable. Unbelievable property that is how a B&B should be.
Amazing sea view !
