A real chateau, with furniture and lived in until it was donated for historical purposes. No wine being sold here, so the tour focuses on the history Purchase the tickets to see the inside with a guide. Tour was in French, but materials available in English, tour guide spoke English as well, so we could ask questions. Additionally, no tour busses bringing hoards of people. Tour the farm and grounds. Well worth a visit.

A great chateau to visit, the guided tour (in French) was very informative and clear, both about the history of the building and about the philosopher and writer, Montesquieu, who was born and lived there. The extensive grounds were also a pleasure to walk around. Highly recommended.

Cute castle surrounded by a moat; beautiful interior decorations and an expansive domain/garden. Known as the home of famous philosopher/writer Montesquieu. Enthusiastic and friendly guide.

Great Château one of the best in the area. Nice grounds and Château. A short movie is shown in the stable area. Toilets available in stable block and at entry kiosk..

We visited on a day trip from Bordeaux to learn about the world and life of Montesquieu. Our French was good enough to enjoy the guided tour. There is so much to see inside as well as enjoying strolling through the park and garden. I loved taking photos of the chateau from its exterior. This was a great day and very memorable. If you love philosophy, economics and history this is a must see. You need to book in advance and bring a picnic lunch as there is no catering on site. There is however an entrance with a book store.

A beautiful castle. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. The guided tour is about an hour long and cost about €9 per person. It’s possible to just walk around the grounds if you don’t want to do a tour

Beautiful little château. The entry fee is good value for a tour of this historic château. Our tour guide, Juliet, was amazing. The tour was in French and we have limited French, but she spoke slowly, used lots of hand gestures, and deliberately chose words that were similar to English words. This meant we could often roughly follow what she was saying, even before she gave a quick English translation. It was a fascinating tour, including gardens and surrounding buildings. Well worth the trip.

The castle is very well kept and presented by a very knowledgeable guide lady. Worth a visit any time if anyone is in the area.
