Le Charlemagne delivers a confident and thoughtful culinary experience that reflects both strong technique and a clear respect for local products. Chef Rudy Villien’s approach is elegant without excess, and the tasting menu is structured with intention and balance. The progression of the dishes feels harmonious. The foie gras with beetroot, fig, arugula and yuzu is refined and surprisingly light, setting an impressive tone for the rest of the evening. The bluefin tuna, paired with celery, dengaku and curry, is one of the highlights: precise, clean flavours with an understated depth. The scallops and the veal from the Clavisy Farm also demonstrate careful execution and consistency, each plated with attention to texture and contrast. Service is professional and observant, leaning slightly on the reserved side, but always responsive when needed. The wine pairing is well calibrated and enhances the dishes without overwhelming them. The team’s commitment to local producers is evident and adds an additional layer of meaning to the menu. Even the smallest details — from the aperitif bites to the transition into dessert — are handled with clarity and intention. The dessert centred around pear, chocolate and coffee closes the experience on a sophisticated and memorable note. Overall, Le Charlemagne offers a mature, well-composed dining experience, where creativity is guided by respect for ingredients rather than theatrics. A strong and thoughtful Michelin-level meal.
We enjoyed this beautiful restaurant for dinner tonight. It was quiet, but the service was top notch and the food was delicious. The wine list is extensive. The views of the vineyards were wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the three appetizers, the langoustine tartar and the chicken filet. The Madagascar chocolate dish was divine. It was a great experience.
Dined late November did the €115 menu glad we did this menu instead of spending more. Food wasn’t really worth it. Food: 👍Foie gras was excellent. Paired well with the house bread 🥖 👎Bluefin tuna 🐠 was extremely fishy, salty and therefore not fresh. So was the puree. It was like they dumped the entire jar of salt 🧂 marinating this dish. I myself eat quite salty yet I could not take another bite. At this point I lost appetite already. Comes the beef filet I was just glad it was cooked properly, though lack of taste. 👍Cheese and dessert were good but average nothing unique or extraordinary. Wine list is extensive, but expensive by glass. Overall taste and texture fell short.
Well. Absolutely excellent! The tasting menu surprised, delivered and left us happy. The wine pairing was out of this world. Service was impeccable but on the reserved side, however that’s more about what you prefer than quality it self. Ambience was beautiful and calm but maybe a bit stiff.
Nice location in the vineyards. Very friendly staff. Atmospheric dining room. The Signature Menu in 7 courses plus quite a few amuses was very nice overall and some courses were most surprising wrt complex aroms & creativity! Good value for money. Sufficient parking parking space. A place to recommend!
Best experience the view it’s amazing food it’s so good service it’s excellent and price its not to expensive because you get a lot.
Dinner at Le Charlemagne was sublime. Beautiful setting amongst the vineyards, delicious coursed out dinner and fantastic service. Our fave of three Michelin starred restaurants this trip!
Wonderful dinner with delicious wines recommended by an excellent sommelier. Japanese influenced French cooking gives it a beautiful lightness. Charming service. Plus a quick walk to our bedroom in a comfortable apartment for rent above the restaurant.
