When visiting Montpellier visiting this square is a must. Sometimes there is an open theatre performing but always it is bustling with some activity. All the buildings in the surrounding area are majestic.
A very lively part ot Montpellier at all time, with excellent buskers near the fountain, just next to large outside seatings of fancy hidtoric cafés and Restaurants. The very diverse crowd passing by in all sort of transport device is a treat. It is worth stopping, and watching the never ending flow.
Place de la Comédie is the beating heart of Montpellier. The square is surrounded by historic buildings, with the Opéra Comédie and the Three Graces fountain as focal points. Always full of energy, from morning coffee crowds to evening strolls, and well-connected with the city’s tram lines. A perfect place to start exploring the old town or just to sit and people-watch.
Well we arrived in Montpellier on the 26/06/25 first impressions were wow what’s a beautiful place . The buildings within the Place de la Comédie are just stunning the detail in the stone work is incredible. There’s a great vibe about this place . There’s lots of restaurants around the huge square . It’s a must to visit . There’s ample car parking at the underground car parks . This won’t be the last time we visit Montpelier there’s so much more to see .
Cycled from Palavas Les Flots to visit the centre. Try nice but very busy. Cycle route was very good and easy to navigate.
What an amazing place! You will not miss it when you visit Montpellier. The architecture, the music, and the atmosphere, everything seemed so harmonious and perfect.
Fantastic place and very busy, it’s gives you a lovely atmosphere of the location and town A very busy hub with a large amount of restaurants and food places. We went on a Sunday evening which was still very busy but a lot of places where closing for the end of the day around 10pm so something to bear in mind.
Such a vibrant and magical square! The views were stunning, and the atmosphere was full of life. Street artists were playing music, adding so much charm to the experience. A perfect spot to relax, people-watch, and feel the heart of Montpellier.
