In addition to the remarkable Treasure, there is a fabulous collection of Paleolithic tools well delineated across time.

Superb little museum with a nice collection of exhibits going back to the Paleolithic. Undoubtely though the star attraction is the Treasure of Eauze. Discovered during an archaeological dig in 1985 it is an astonishing collection of 28000 coins, jewelery and precious objects hidden in sacks weighing 120kg. One can but marvel and wonder what the story was, how this enormous treasure came to be buried and forgotten. Perhaps it was stolen, but the thief died in a tavern. Perhaps it was buried by a rich family fleeing for their lives. Maybe a miser collected it but his will was lost.

Good regional museum concentrating on Gallo-Roman sites in the region. Displays nicely relate the artifacts to daily life in the Roman period. There are two associated museums/sites nearby that you can get reduced price tickets for. Well worth a visit.

L’accueil du musée est très agréable et aimable. C’est un véritable trésor de musée. L’histoire ainsi que l’exposition sont très intéressantes, y compris la partie consacrée à la préhistoire. J’aurais aimé que la partie basse du trésor soit mieux éclairée… Il s’agit d’un beau musée. La découverte de ce trésor est fascinante, et c’est une excellente idée de le présenter à tous. Le tarif de la visite des trois sites est raisonnable et accessible à tous.

Très beau musée à découvrir absolument. Les expositions permanentes comme temporaires sont utiles pour comprendre l'histoire de la région et notamment celle de la cité antique Elusa. Bravo 👏
