A nice stop if you want to see the trickle of water that becomes the Moselle. For an easier trip ignore the GPS if it wants to take you on the smaller road for 3-4 km. Instead stay on the main road till you are just passing the source and turn left. There is a small parking area next to the source. There is information about the course of the Moselle and two small garden beds.
At the Col de Bussang you can find the source of the Moselle. It’s a little park with a a few benches and of course the source itself. It’s absolutely worth visit it. You can also see a map behind the source where the Moselle is going to. It’s worth visit this place . There is a little car park in top and it’s also easy to access it for cyclist.
It is marvelous! One of the climaxes of our journey! Really spectacular! You feel reborn when visited this place! Recommend to everybody from every age group! Even if you don't like rivers that much. It is like the Trevi fountain of France. Best to come early as it is easily crowded here.
The official source of the Moselle. An excellent spot with a free Car Park, it's along a quiet country road (apart from occasional logging vehicle) you will probably find you are the only visitors. There is a diagram of the River Moselle behind the flow emerging through the stone structure.
The place was a little hard to find coming from the top of the Ballons. The source itself is quite modest and is hidden from the street, in a corner. There is a map depicting the path of the Moselle. If you like to find sources of great rivers, the source of the Danube is better presented. This was nice but not astounding either. On the positive side, the place was completely empty when we stopped by around 6pm.
Nice place to visit. A lot to see around, just need to drive a bit to the climbing path 300+ m up the cliffs.
Amazing place. Very nice and tidy. The place contains valuable Informations about the river Mosel and how it runs throug the landscape of France and Germany and shows all the landmarks on a map of granite and bronze. A must see in the vosges.
In itself not very exciting. But a good parking spot to start a hike from
