La Petite Venise is honestly one of the most beautiful and charming places I’ve visited. The neighborhood is full of cute, colorful houses that look like they’re straight out of a storybook. Walking around feels really relaxing, with little streets, small shops, and lots of cozy spots to just wander and take it all in. What I really loved is how lively but still quaint it feels. There are plenty of small restaurants right by the river where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. It’s such a nice experience having a meal there, especially with a glass of wine—just watching the water and people passing by makes it feel like a perfect, slow-paced day. It does get quite crowded, so I’d definitely recommend planning ahead. We parked at Parking Rapp, which was super convenient and an easy walk into the area. Make sure to walk around properly and not rush it. Visiting the Marché Couvert de Colmar is also worth it if you have time. And if you can, book a little boat tour—it’s a great way to see the houses from a different perspective. Overall, it’s just a really cute and scenic place to spend a few hours. Walking, exploring, having a nice meal with a glass of wine—it’s pretty much a perfect day.
Colmar is my hometown, yet it still feels magical every time I visit. It’s a place unlike any other. The colorful streets and charming houses made me feel as if I had stepped into Belle’s story. There are lovely shops to explore, and the atmosphere is simply unforgettable. If you have the chance, visit during Christmas time. It’s busy, but the festive decorations and magical ambiance make it completely worth it!!
A picturesque part of the town of Colmar. Amazing buildinga with beautiful colors and nice decorations. The city follows the seasonal decorations and it is the most beautiful during the Christmas holidays. In summer you can enjoy the vibrant colors of the flowers and the nice weather. I definitely recommend visiting ant time of the year.
La Petite Venise is an absolute gem and one of the most charming places in France. With its colorful half-timbered houses lining peaceful canals and flower-filled balconies at every turn, it truly feels like stepping into a fairytale. Walking through the narrow streets is a delight—every corner offers postcard-worthy views, cozy cafés, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The blend of French and Alsatian culture is reflected beautifully in the architecture, food, and local hospitality. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely boat ride, savoring traditional Alsatian cuisine, or simply strolling along the water, La Petite Venise offers a magical, romantic experience that’s unforgettable. A must-visit destination for anyone traveling to France.
La Petite Venise is the heart and soul of Colmar. It brings life and charm to this poetic little town. The water is clear and calm, reflecting the colorful houses along the river. From time to time, small boats glide by, adding to the peaceful rhythm of the place. On both sides of the river, cozy restaurants and little boutiques line the streets, full of character and local charm. The riverbank is always lively—couples enjoying a quiet drink together, solo travelers taking in the views, and local families strolling with their children and dogs. It’s a scene full of life and stories. The only drawback is that this picturesque river stretch is actually quite short, so the area is smaller than one might expect. Still, it remains a must-see in Colmar—a lovely place to walk, relax, and feel the spirit of the town.
We visited La Petite Venise in Colmar and had a really nice experience. The location is beautiful, right by the canals with colorful old houses all around, which makes the atmosphere very special and almost postcard-like. The food was good and typical of the region, especially the local specialties. The Flammekueche was simple but tasty and fresh. Service was fine and overall everything felt relaxed and pleasant. It can be a bit touristy, but the setting makes it worth it. A lovely spot to enjoy a meal while walking through one of the most picturesque areas in Alsace.
This charming little town, with its many well-preserved old houses, is nestled beside a small stream running through its center. Visiting during the holiday season allows you to experience the atmosphere of one of the world's oldest and most beautiful Christmas markets, with beautifully decorated shops and many typical Christmas dishes. However, one thing to be extremely careful about is pickpocketing. This is a major drawback of Colmar.
La Petite Venise is truly the postcard image of Colmar. The colorful half-timbered houses, flower-filled balconies, and peaceful canals create a magical atmosphere that feels straight out of a fairy tale. Walking through the area is a pleasure at any time of day, but it becomes especially enchanting in the evening when the lights reflect on the water. Every corner offers beautiful views and perfect photo opportunities. Despite being one of the city’s most popular attractions, La Petite Venise has managed to preserve its charm and authenticity. The combination of history, architecture, and the relaxing waterside setting makes it an unforgettable place to visit. Whether you’re exploring on foot or enjoying a boat ride along the canal, this is a highlight of any trip to Colmar.
