Definitely not deserving of a 4.7/5 rating. Our evening was ruined for two main reasons: 1. I found a piece of broken glass in my fries, which I had to take out of my mouth. Our meat was okay but far from great. 2. The waiter spent nearly 15 minutes loudly arguing with the table next to us because they complained that their meat was inedible, so chewy they had to spit out half of it. Despite saying they still wanted to pay part of the bill and even leave him a tip, the waiter accused them of being insulting, returned several times to continue the argument, and even asked where they were from, implying their nationality explained their comments. They were polite visitors from London, simply pointing out the meat quality was unacceptable. The restaurant is extremely small, so everyone was forced to listen to this outburst, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere and ruined the experience for all. Shockingly, the waiter even gossiped about those clients to a new table of four and later came to us to repeat his version of events, though we had heard it all night. Other issues: the cramped seating meant people couldn’t reach the washroom without disrupting the entire counter; the toilets were dirty at the start of service; and the meat, supposedly the specialty at €60–75/kg, was disappointing. On the positive side, the small chorizo appetizer was very good. But a restaurant claiming to specialize in côte de bœuf should deliver excellent meat and, above all, never stage such an unprofessional scene in front of its guests. We truly hope this review serves as an opportunity for the waiter to reflect and improve his behavior, not to be dismissed, but to grow. Out of respect for the hard work in this industry, we still left a €10 tip, yet it’s clear he has much to work on.
Being in Biarritz for holidays, we stumbled upon Haragia on Google Maps and was pleasantly surprised by this small hidden gem for true carnivores. The staff is incredibly friendly, the menu is efficient and straight to the point, all about high-quality meat. We started with the chorizo, followed by a perfectly cooked Côte de Galice, served with a refreshing salad and crisp homemade fries. Ended on a high note with a delicious lemon verrine for dessert. The wine list is excellent, offering great pairings. Overall, everything was fresh, flavorful, and fairly priced. Top-notch hospitality. Definitely recommend. PS : The restaurant is very tiny, they do two services so it’s better to book in advance. However, we walked in after 10pm and were immediately seated.
Favorite place we ate in Biarittz. Steak was incredible, perfectly seasoned and cooked, & the service was wonderful. I recommend reservations as it's a small restaurant, but we showed up at 21:15 and got a table at 22h. Panna cotta for dessert was also delicious. Merci!
Really disappointing. It was our last evening in France and we thought we’d treat ourselves to a nice steak meal. We researched the best steak restaurants in Biarritz and this one came up as the winner. We were offered the choice between Irish and Spanish meat and chose the Spanish one on the waiter’s recommendation. It was the more expensive cut at €75 per kg The meat unfortunately was pretty tasteless and really tough and chewy to the point where we couldn’t even eat around 1/3 of it. For a restaurant that specialises in steak, this level of quality is unacceptable. When you can cook far superior steaks yourself at home for a fraction of the cost what’s the point to dine out? But what made the evening really memorable was the waiter’s terrible attitude and customer service. When we complained politely about the meat he had a “too bad” kind of attitude and when we said we were happy to pay only for the weight of the meat that was actually edible he lost his calm completely and made a real scene in front of all the other diners. Even going so far as to ask us where we were from and insinuating that our nationality explained why we didn’t want to pay - to be clear, we were happy to pay for what we were able to eat despite it being well below acceptable quality. He even began to gossip about us to other diners (in French) who had come in after the scene he had made. maybe we were just unlucky with the meat on that day, but overall, a very poor performance by this restaurant which could have been redeemed somewhat had we received a better level of service.
Highly recommend if you are in Biarritz! Perfectly cooked steak, good selection of wine, friendly service. Place is small, so consider to reserve it in advance.
Looking for the best steak in town? Make sure you book or you’ll miss out. This small restaurant has fantastic service and simply prepared, spectacular quality local fare. The wall of steaks you may choose from to have cooked over open charcoal fire. A top notch selection of wines for accompaniment and large range of fine rums to finish.
Amazing food 🥩 Best steak 🥩 very friendly chef, good location 🥩🥩💯💯👍👍
Superbe côté de bœuf... Simply grilled over a charcoal fire, and served to share. The braised chorizo & sauce sakari was also fabulous... To visit with friends or on a date... ;)
