Avis
The ruined site of a one-time prosperous and important ice harvesting and storage facility that fell out of favour and into disrepair following the invention of the refrigerator is a must-see. There are information boards in both French and English that explain the process and the history - and which detail the hard life of the workers; as well as a series of atmospheric photographs taken inside the vast building (which for safety reasons is out of bounds to visitors). Steep wooden steps and a boardwalk take you down to the lake (chosen for the job because the purity of its water meant it froze at higher temperatures) and there's a gravel track on the other side of the building accessed more easily from the car park (where there's also a dry toilet). It's free to enter.
Nice place to stop by on a road trip There're public toilets but no place to buy food or drinks. We did not see signs for the parking lot, so we found it after a while but worth it.
It's our stop point from Geneva to Nantua. The scene is so magnificent! The place was old factory for ice storage during winter, but now it's abandoned now.
Very beautiful place if you are passing through on the highway. Completely free to visit and you get stunning views and interesting history
Nice place to visit!
Remote and quiet (apart from the highway next door), not much to do there, but nice place nonetheless. There's a possibility to walk on the ice if the winter is good enough
Nice place for a little stop, picnic
Really interesting place to visit with great views around into the old ice storage facility. The building is decaying in a very fascinating way, with trees growing out of the roof. The setting by lake is lovely.
