Update: yeah I tried the removable mount and it is a terrible design. One rubber plunger to hold all that torque on a slippery surface is not enough especially if you don't have any lip at the top to catch on. The one in the video is on some kind of metal plate or something, not like what I have at all. And for the one where you screw it in, I simply didn't want to put holes in my transom there when I'm just testing a brand new product, so you can't really expect everyone is going to do it that way. Just beware if your boat has a varnished wood transom like the one pictured! I had to pay extra for the transom mount but turns out it's not designed for varnished wooden transoms and it nearly was lost to the ocean the first time I tried using it. Definitely not ready for prime time yet. Great idea though, love seeing a fresh approach in an old space. Temo CS was very supportive and made sure the retailer took my return, especially Nick from Team USA! I was worried about losing money but they made sure I was satisfied even if I had to go a different direction for my old legacy Avon inflatable dinghy.

Temo 450 produce a good product which is lightweight and fit for purpose. A better transom fixing should be developed that would hold the motor at an angle when alongside jettys.

I love my Temo 450. I have had it for 1 year now and have used it over 50 days. I love that it only weighs 5kg, I couldn't carry a 15kg petrol outboard after pacemaker surgery, the Temo gave me mobility again to get to my yacht. The furthest I ever need to travel with my tender is 500m from an anchorage to the nearest beach at Dangar Island. I can make the return trip on a single charge (down to 25% charge at the end of the 1km round trip). For most trips just going to and from the shore to the yacht over a typical weekend with numerous trips I usually manage to get a whole weekend's use out of the battery without recharging. The Temo 450 is not as quick as a 2.5 Hp petrol outboard, but for most trips it is only 30 seconds slower and you make that time back up putting the motor on and off the boat. Due to the angle of the motor you don't get bow lift, so an inflatable is better with more freeboard. It is a little tricky negotiating 0.5m waves in a 2.1m dinghy. Steering is a little bit more difficult, especially going backwards, using the motor like an oar works best. The only real negative is the price. Every boat friend that looks at it finds the product way too expensive. As I can't carry a petrol outboard anymore, I don't have a lot of choice but to pay the money, but I highly recommend it to anyone struggling to carry a petrol outboard. Even my wife, who has 3 herniated discs in her neck has no trouble carrying it, putting it on the boat, or using it. We love it. The float helps a lot putting the outboard on and off the dinghy.
