Individual styled guest house very near the centre of this fascinating historical little walled town and its amazing belfry.|This was very quiet as you walked through the old building on the street and then an attractive yard into the next building where Valėrie serves delicious continental breakfast. The room Vauban is above it, reached by a slightly difficult staircase, and overlooks the courtyard. A further courtyard is behind this middle building, then beyond to another building, so in the middle of the “block” and protected from street noises.|Vauban is a large en suite room, with a comfortable room, and excellent wifi. Partly set up to be self-catering? |The entire building is decorated with individual artistic flair.|Valērie and her husband were very helpful.|There is free street parking all round, slightly hampered by ongoing modernisation and roadworks.|Plenty of good eating options in town.|Do explore the town and area, and which is only about 15 minutes from Dunkirk, by motorway.

This was an excellent stay. Valerie is an exceptional host - friendly, booked us a restaurant on the first night and prepared a glorious French breakfast both mornings. As well as the room, guests can use the two courtyards where there are pretty seating areas - and we were able to store our bikes in one of them which was very useful. The room (Abbey Room) was comfortable and well kept with tea and coffee facilities, and a small lounge. Note that it's up two flights of stairs, while not an issue for us it would not be accessible for those with limited mobility. There is a room on the first floor and I believe one on the ground floor also. The best thing about the property is its location. Just a few steps from the main square in Bergues (several very good restaurants) and a short walk from the castle, but with free parking right outside the property. We parked and didn't need to use our car the whole stay. Most of the great B&Bs in this area are in more rural locations. We were here to cycle, and there are super cycle routes right from the doorstep - the Bois de Forts is a lovely forest with lots of different paths including the Veloroute de Flanders - which we also took in the opposite direction to Esquelbecq with its chateau and then to Mont Cassel. You can also design your own route with the clever numbering system which covers this part of France and much of Flanders. All in all an exceptional stay - we will be back!

Beste Valerie, ons verblijf in jullie kamer was geweldig. De ruimte is comfortabel, de bedden zijn uitstekend en de badkamer is schoon. Het ontbijt, geserveerd in de keuken/eetkamer, was uitgebreid. En het mooiste van alles vinden we jullie persoonlijke, kunstzinnige sfeer. Heel erg bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid!

Jolie maison à 2 pas de la grand place avec parking gratuit, super bien décorée et pleine de charme. Chambre Vauban spacieuse et très propre, le lit est confortable, grande douche pour se laver à 2 ;-) et gros plus, la climatisation. Bon petit déjeuner avec des produits frais et un bon café filtre ( manque juste un petit croissant pour la gourmande que je suis). Valérie est une personne gentille, douce, qui est à l'écoute, on sent qu'elle aime faire plaisir et etre aux petits soin pour nous. Encore merci pour votre acceuil, vous avez réussi à nous metrre à l'aise car c'etait notre 1ère fois en chambre d'hôtes.||Stéphanie et Guillaume

Parfait à tout point de vue : l’emplacement est idéal , la chambre très bien équipée et magnifiquement décorée, le petit déjeuner est délicieux et plein d’amour et Valérie est une hôte adorable et aux petits soins du début à la fin !! Je recommande fortement pour un séjour dans une ville du nord fortifiée pleine de cachet et d’histoire…
