Visiting Entrevaux feels like exploring Minas Tirith from “The Lord of the Rings”! Winding, narrow, cobbled streets. Arched gateways and hidden squares. Staircases that spiral up into the shadowed heights. And towering over it all the Citadel. A magical place to wander around for a few hours.
Citadelle d'Entrevaux is a captivating historical gem! The medieval fortress offers breathtaking views, intriguing architecture, and a step back in time. A must-visit for history enthusiasts, surrounded by stunning landscapes.
I loved seeing the old citadel le and imagining how difficult it must have to live there. Cost 3€ for adults. The views from the top down the valley were amazing.
Quaint medieval town - tough climb up to the citadel but its worth it for the panoramic views of the town and the surrounding area.
A stiff walk from the town is very worthwhile . This fortress, typical of Vauban, is definitely a must visit when in Provence. The history dates from 1690 when it was built to the beginning of the twentieth century when it was used in WW1 to house German POWs. The views are also exceptional and worth the climb just for the scenery.
Beautiful medieval village. Must visit.
From the gate to the top you can do it in 20-30 mins. You get a great view.
A pleasant hike and view. But beware the pay-as-you-go gate, which doesn’t always function properly and may accept your €3 without opening. The tourist office at the city gate will not give you a refund. This should change.
