This was a lovely experience to introduce my young adults to wine tasting. They do tours in English and French. You must reserve on their website. We toured the wine making areas and heard all about the history of this chateau, their wines, the production and the soil and how it differs from the other wines in the vicinity. After wine tasting (either 3 or 5) you can visit the chateau and even participate in a game around the chateau (we did not do this)
Doing the Lupin challenge and visiting the castle was one of my fondest experiences from this summer. A super engaging and fun way to get to know the place and I don’t want to visit any other castles without a fun interactive game any more. Highly recommended.
Went here with my wife, daughter and friends with their 20 year old son. We did the scavenger hunt which took us through the entire castle. Main floor, first floor, gardens and cellar. Well done. Castle is in various states of repair. Some rooms are furnished and some are bare. Don’t expect a bistro but there is a souvenir shop.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Winery was beautiful. Enjoyed the personal touches to the tour. Not overly fancy, which was great giving us a real look into the wine making business.
The vineyard tour and wine-tasting was a delight for all the senses. The songs of nightingale and golden oriole greeted us as we visited the vines set against a backdrop of the town of Bergerac in the renowned appellation contrôlée of Pécharmant. Inside the atmospheric chais dating from 1668, came the wonderful scent of French oak barrels quietly maturing for the next bottling. And then came the tasting of the 5 wines produced here. Wonderful! Thanks to our knowledgeable guide, Katya, who gave us a first class explanation (in English and French) of all the processes and answered our questions. A beautiful experience.
Beautiful castle. 100% recommendable. They do Christmas activities for children, games and at the end, you have a delicious Vin Chaud!
I sometimes wonder what people who write negative reviews expect when they seek a place out to visit?! Chateau Tiregand is a case in point. True, they only have 3 or 4 wines on tasting. But these are a good example of their full range. I owned a vineyard on New Zealand where we had a huge range of reds and whites. But in France appellation controlle restrictions limit what grape varieties a winery can plant and what wines they can make in their particular region. So please be aware of that, and manage your expectations accordingly. What I saw when I visited today, was a beautifully maintained property, starting with an entry down a long drive underneath besutiful old trees. Then a glimpse of the Chateau before I drove on to the tasting room. There I met a charming woman who spoke no English, while my French is non-existent. However, we got by, made a few jokes, tasted 3 excellent wines, and purchased some as well. The winery offers tours, but these need to be pre-booked, so I did not participate in that activity unfortunately. My mistake for not booking. I would recommend both a visit and a tasting. Perhaps a tour too if you have time.
Beautiful place to explore and walk around.
