This place checked all the boxes for our stay. Rooms are steps from a quiet beach but walking distance to the main restaurant area with a good breakfast. There isn’t a pool despite the pictures on google, but the beach being proximity makes up for this fact. The staff helped carry our luggage to the taxi pick up point and made sure nothing was left in the room. Room was as pictured and AC worked well. Traditional Fireshow on the beach in front of the hotel’s restaurant after sunset.
Unfortunately, our experience here was very disappointing. Let’s start with the positives: - Room was adequately clean. - Check-in was smooth, if not overly friendly. - The location was great; although the beach certainly isn’t the most beautiful on the island it is pleasant nonetheless. - The garden surrounding the resort is lovely and well-maintained. - Breakfast was OK, and had sufficient options. However, our main issue was that on two occasions we had roaches in our rooms. We highlighted the issue to the reception staff, however it was not taken seriously - we were not offered to change rooms, no apologies, nothing. The roach issue was so concerning to us that we decided to cut our stay short and left one night early. No refund or discount was offered despite numerous conversations with staff. Again, very disappointing stay and we will not be back.
Really nice stay on the beautiful island of koh samet, great resort super relaxing vibe. On the beach with a great breakfast, good massages, nice restaurant and friendly staf. Just missing a pool!
Super hotel just back from beach. Staff friendly and multilingual. breakfast was a good choice of European and Thai. There is a small but nice swimming pool and a small one for children. The rooms ( double) were spacious with separate good sized bathroom and shower. Internet was generally OK. Trips can be organised from reception and are same cost as in town. Hire a bike for 400 b a day or use the bus for around 30 b|Lovely beach though all the beaches on this little island are lovely|Location is great for restaurants and bars massages and little shops|Recommended both the hotel and the island
This is such a good accommodation. The rooms are clean l, the staff is super friendly and open, the beach is so beautiful. The next beach towards the south is reachable via the coast and the restaurant is also very good and tasty. Overall I say it can not get any better for the value. We will come back for sure.
Located on Ao Phai beach towards the north of the island. We would have preferred to have stayed further south. Beach is rammed with sun beds and feels congested. Resort itself is lovely as are the staff. Set in beautiful gardens that are kept well and paths swept clean of leaves daily. Restaurant fairly priced for seafront. Breakfast can be a bit of a bun fight so pick your time wisely. Lots of choice for Thai, Asian and Western diets. Plenty of eateries close by, shout out to Seabreeze Roti and Restaurant that you'll find just outside the entrance to Silver Sands Resort next door, We spent more time at other beaches further south that were quieter and had lovely bars, eateries and less people. Koh Samed itself is a very dirty island and we are seasoned visitors to Thailand who ride motorbikes around and tour the entire country so not easily put off. Rubbish is piled up everywhere and its pretty ugly to see. Not for us, rather go back to Koh Chang to be honest.
As is typical with hotels and restaurants on Koh Samet, no one really tries to impress. The warm welcome you get on other islands is absent here because Samet's proximity from Bangkok guarantees them business all year round. Samed Villa Resort is relatively better than some others, in that it's cleaner and rooms are well equipped. The restaurant is an entirely different story, though. Servers hate their manager and resent having to serve customers. The food used to be much better and the menu was a lot more varied, but now they just offer the usual basics as every other spot around. No more seafood BBQ. No more authentic pizzas (they've been replaced by frozen Makro crusts). The breakfast buffet is depressing (how do they manage to find bacon that tastes so bad?). Juice is watered down. They charge for cappacino and it might be the worst I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and walk down to Tubtim Resort for dinner, and just skip the breakfast all together. Better yet, skip Koh Samet and travel a little further to Koh Chang.
We had high hopes for this trip but sadly let down by the hotel. The location is stunning but the hotel bathroom door knob was broken and cut my fingers. The floor tiles were broken in some parts that can easily cut the feet if not being careful. The WiFi also did not work along with the tv that was not functioning. The reception was not helpful at all. Hope the management looks into this. I had booked for two nights but considering cutting the stay short given the terrible room experience.
