What a wonderful place! The standard of refurbishment is exceptional while still retaining the character of the original Château. The staff were engaging and helpful, Josephine in particular. We were lucky with the weather and the heated pool is an extra bonus. We will definitely be back. The only way to improve it would be the addition of on-site catering for dinner, but we were offered the option of ordering in. Very memorable :)
We went for the wine tour and it was worth the drive. Everything was explained in detail and the wine tasting was amazing, some of the best red wine. Had a few bottles on the terrace of our airbnb.
We stayed here for a whole week on a small-group tour of Provence. The tour company rented the entire chateau for our group. It was a wonderful experience! The rooms were gorgeous and HUGE, including the bathroom. We were assigned the Clairette room. Our room was "refreshed" with a mid-week housekeeping, but there was no daily housekeeping service. The air conditioning worked well, once we learned how to adjust it. The common areas included a room with a pool table, and a large living room with a baby grand piano and a table set up for chess games. We ate most of our breakfasts and some dinners out on the verandah. Breakfast was included; typical fare was a basket of giant croissants, meat and cheese platter, and a bowl of amazing ripe fruit. The coffee machine was a bit finicky, and internet was slow and could be spotty, but those were minor inconveniences in such incredibly beautiful surroundings. The chateau is a working winery, and we had the option to do a tasting in the winery facility, which we very much enjoyed.
We had a great time with our guide Lea, she was so nice and helpful!! The wines are very interesting and surprising.
The moment you step into the tasting room at Château Gigognan, the world outside seems to fade. The wine was exquisite, all 14 bottles were incredible. The area itself was insanely beautiful, the stone walls, bathed in soft light, are adorned with vintage photographs of the vineyard and its storied past, but the true star here is Claude, what a man. The wine tasting experience was delivered by a professional. We’ve bought 48 bottles back home to England.
Our family had a fun and informative estate and vineyard tour with Claude and his student; we then got to taste a full collection of their wines which was a feast for the senses. We felt welcome and would definitely recommend Chateau Gigognan to wine lovers! Beautiful Chateau, great knowledgeable team, delicious wines.
We had a really wonderful wine tasting experience with Lea. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions we had about the wine making process. The wines were all delicious and worth the trek!
