It was very pleasent day Sunny in December shining with Christmas decorations everywhere in the town. Vannes historic centre is where the ancient buildings adopted the modern style. Nice shops, lovely restaurants and good public transport.

Fabulous & Historical Town This is a fantastic historical site to visit. The 'maison a collombage', the old castle, the Cathedral. Vannes as it all and more. It is a gorgeous place and it is super enjoyable because you can easily walk around the town in half a day. If you do want to visit the actual sites then you would need more time, but it is well worth it. Most of the buildings are well preserved, the architecture is grand, and it is a beauty of a town. Highly recommended from us.

Walking through the historic center of Vannes feels like stepping into a living fairy tale. The half-timbered houses lean playfully over narrow streets, as if whispering centuries-old secrets to each other. The old city walls still guard the town with quiet pride, just as they did when medieval merchants and sailors filled the streets with noise and stories from faraway places. Every corner has a little surprise — a hidden courtyard, a carved wooden facade, or the sound of the cathedral bells echoing through the old stone. Vannes manages to feel both ancient and full of life at the same time, making every visit feel like a small adventure into Brittany’s past.

I visited this beautiful old town in July 2023. The streets and houses are great to view and explore. There are many restaurants with local specialities like Galette to visit. The park close to the palace of the town is especially beautiful. Also the harbor is worth a visit.

The old historic part of town is not big but full of interesting old buildings. It has a long history and was in the 14th century chosen as the capital of the Duchy of Brittany. The remains of the fortifications with ramparts still visible today are a reminder of that time

Beautiful old inner city... Old houses everywhere and a very chill atmosphere. I found Vannes very relaxing and would come back here for sure!

Gorgeous old historic town! Its well preserved architecture is amazing. One of the most attractive places of the region.

First time in visiting Vannes and would like to return and hire some bikes (there were some great cycling lanes along the harbour, river and estuary), to see the wider area. The city has some lovely old buildings, cuisine to please everyone and joyful public spaces. We didn't take the tourist land-train. The indoor market has a wide selection of fresh foods from different cuisines.
