We wanted to have some sea food in the old town and chose this place to try. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of natural flavor. What I appreciated the most was the simplicity of the dishes, there were no overpowering sauces so we could enjoy the pure taste of the sea food. Pasta looked very simple, but when I tried it I fell in love and finished it all even though I was already fool after all sea food we ate. The owner is very friendly, helped us with the menu. We didn't speak french, he didn't speak English, but we managed to laugh together. Prices are high, some will find it too high, but I think it's worth it.
Good food (not great) but super overpriced. We enjoyed joking around with the owner although I can see how his jokes can quickly become offensive. Main meals were in the 30-40s€ and starters between 20-30€ which was ridiculous for the portion. The stuffed calamaris were a real treat and worth getting, the lobster pasta also which should really be called grilled lobster with a side of pasta. Overall we had a great time but felt it was expensive for the portions coming to about 70-80€ per person.
Great and unexpected joy. We wanted to try another restaurant nearby, but it was closed. So we decided to come here. It is far more pricey than the one, we wanted to go to first, and I am so glad I didn’t check before. The owner is a very friendly, attentive, cool and humorous gentleman, who explained to us all offered dishes in detail. (Sorry if I wrote them wrong under the pictures) We ordered 3 dishes for lunch, one for each of us, and switched. We were all delighted by each of the 3 dishes. We had a small bottle of white wine and coffee at the end. We sat outside at a nice wooden table under colonnades. Very nice experience. Thanks!
I was very attracted by the location, menu, and quirkiness of the owner so booked a table. Overall we found the food ok (nothing special) but absolutely overpriced (the only thing really worth it was the lamb shank which was delicious but 38 euros!). Starter, aubergine on the photo was like 24 euros (!!?) but we wanted to try because it's the speciality in Bonifacio. The owner is borderline rude and offensive. Heard him talking to another man who owns a catering place up the road saying "if I don't take the money from the richs who do I take it from" whilst opening our bottle of wine... I'm french, which he didn't know. Anyway 130 euros for one starter to share, two mains and a dessert to share + a 50cl bottle wine. Very pricey and I'd say there are much better places around which we found out afterwards unfortunately.
A quiet gem of a restaurant nestled in the narrow streets of Bonifacio just opposite the entry to L'eglise Sancte Marie Majeure.A gracious witty host welcomed us and made us most comfortable with our decision to eat there. The dishes were a delicious dance on our taste buds as well as a welcome sight. We tasted Culinary Magic at Lan'k and enjoyed every moment.
Absolutely appalling experience in the heart of Bonifacio. We were greeted (if one can call it that) by an outrageously rude waiter whose behavior was nothing short of aggressive and offensive throughout the evening. From the moment we walked in, his tone was hostile. Our group of eight was split across tables without explanation, and when we politely questioned it, he shouted at us: “Take it or leave it – if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” We each ordered a main dish, but when he overheard us mentioning we’d share among ourselves, he reacted with disbelief and disdain, asking condescendingly whether we actually intended to share a dish. Apparently, this was an unforgivable offense. He served us warm red wine and dismissed our request for a chilled bottle by arrogantly stating, “This is how we do it in Corsica – no exceptions.” When we asked for bread, he refused, saying it would only be brought after the food arrived – as if basic courtesy were an optional luxury. The risotto was dreadful – overcooked, under-seasoned, and inedible. When we voiced our dissatisfaction, the waiter became indignant, claiming he had already served ten risottos that day without complaints. He then launched into a theatrical rant, yelling through the street like a man completely unhinged. The tables were filthy, the plates were stained, and throughout the service he kept humming and wandering around with zero professionalism or decorum. Every interaction was laced with arrogance and contempt. Avoid this place at all costs. Mediocre food, shocking service, and an environment that leaves you stressed rather than satisfied. One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had – and an absolute disgrace to Bonifacio’s hospitality scene.
For a fairly pricey restaurant as far as this town, I thought the food was mid.
We were seated, better say squeezed, on the terrace, a wall on a side and another table on the other. We were sharing a starter, an Aubergine à la bonifacienne, when I noticed a hair in the stuffing. When I told the waiter he rudely replied that it was impossible since the guys working in the kitchen were both bald (that meant I was making it up?! By the way, I saw people in the kitchen with dark straight hair). My husband had an octopus salad as main dish, that was more like an onions salad. I had a grilled fish à la corse, not bad but lots of garlic and onion here as well. After a while, the waiter came and apologized for the hair, that he then acknowledged was actually there in the stuffing. He offered some local made myrte liquor, we declined since we don’t drink any alcohol. We decided to share a dessert. Later on we found out they charged us for the aubergines (about 23€ we can’t remember exactly) while the dessert had been offered (cost about 11€).
