Really nice place near Nice in the heart of the lovely town of Biot! Nice artwork and a really great park filled whit statues. A must see if you are in the area!
The architecture and the space around are marvellous with it cubic form and colorful mosaics. I love Léger art and it was fanstastic to see the evolution through various periods. I wish the inscriptions of the walls were in English as it was not always consistent (there were cards provided but not for all artworks). Very worth visiting!
Beware of visiting this place. The opening hours are not particularly clear. Moreover the people at the entrance are totally unsympathetic and more interested in closing early because they say they need time to empty the building. So we arrived at 11:30 hoping to see 30 minutes Before it closes at 12, but were refused entry. Somehow you feel as though a national Museum carries with it and attitude that a commercial enterprise might not anyway make your own decision at your own peril. Perhaps this is exemplified by the poor state of repair and presentation of the building and its presentation country to the intentions of the architect. Such a shame
A stunning collection of work by Fernand Léger - regarded as the forerunner of Pop Art. Entrance fee is only €5.50 and includes an audio guide - provides excellent information. The museum is stunning on the outside, covered in several huge mosaics, also by Lèger. Inside the space is bright and airy with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Everything is well laid out and easy to navigate. There are lots of benches and seating throughout the exhibition areas where you can sit down and look at the art while listening to the audio guide. The Museum is on the outskirts of Biot, hidden off one of the roads leading up to the village. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.
Great area outside and in especially for kids Probably did not need audio guide (2€) since well curated in English as well as French. Free on 1st Sunday of month. Staff very helpful. Really enjoyed especially since had not seen many of his works. Left wanting to see more.
A fantastic museum, very spacious. You should ne able to park nearby. The souvenir shop ofers great books and learning material.
Fantastic spot with breath-taking artworks of an iconic artist of the 20th century. It demonstrates how much Leger has developed its talent through various art styles from concrete over to very abstract and back to objective painting in big formats. It further gives impressive evidence how political Leger was (incl. member of the communist party) but to his dillusion was apparently left not understood with his cubistic/abstract paintings by the working classes at the time. Greatly curated presentation of Leger's unique and unmatched art legacy.
A beautiful museum, part of it was closed but they let us know in advance. Definitely worth the trip.
