Arrived at the accommodation to find a warm welcome from our hosts. It was a very hot day and we were quickly shown our lovely room, followed by cold beers in the garden, while chatting to Elizabeth and Jean-Michel. Dinner was absolutely delicious and we joined a group of German gentlemen and a French couple, together with our hosts for a memorable and chatty evening. Breakfast was simple fare, but adequate and plentiful. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. We were only using it as a stopover at the start of a two week touring holiday, but would have stayed longer to explore the local area, had we have had the time. We would certainly use it again, at any time of year - truly a wonderful place!

Very friendly owners, beautiful and neat chambers. The breakfast is very friendly at one table with all the guests so you can talk and get to know each other. We hired the electric bikes for a day and did a nice tour.

We arrived at La Tour de Giry late in the afternoon after a tiring day of cycling in Burgundy. We had travelled uphill and down for about 60 kilometres and were ready to call it a day. At about 5:00 pm, we passed through the gate to La Tour de Giry, and spied our hosts high up on a scaffolding above an old roofless stone building. The place looked so interesting that we forgot about our fatigue. http://www.latourdegiry.fr/||||Elisabeth and Jean-Michel purchased this farming property, complete with 14th century stone tower, about six years ago and have been renovating it slowly and carefully, doing most of the work themselves. The 17th century building which houses the chambre d'hote and dining room was warm and comfortable, with stone walls and wood stove downstairs, and the original ceiling beams showing upstairs in the bedrooms. Outside was a large vegetable garden and flocks of ducks and chickens. La Tour de Giry is about 20 km from Saulieu, the nearest large town, an easy drive if you have a car.||||Besides the B&B, there is a renovated a stone cottage to rent by the week, often to families from urban areas, who come for some peace and quiet. There is no restaurant nearby, but that is not a problem because Elisabeth and Jean-Michel provide excellent dinners for a moderate price, using their own produce and locally raised meat. We ate dinner with them that evening and enjoyed interesting conversation about farming in France and housebuilding in general. Elisabeth speaks excellent English, and it was very pleasant to learn more about their lifestyle in this very rural part of Burgundy. ||||We slept well that night. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water for the shower, and the continental breakfast the next morning was tasty and fortified us for the day of cycling ahead. We would highly recommend this property as a unique place to stay in Burgundy.

We were driving down to the South of France and needed somewhere to stop off that was better than the usual F1 style accommodation. We were completely bowled over and delighted by what we found with this wonderful converted farmhouse that combined peacefulness, a genuine welcome and wonderful food. ||||The first night we stopped off on the way down to St Tropez and our 2 boys were treated like long lost relatives by Jean Michel and Elizabeth - dinner was a wonderful 5 course locally produced offering - simple but delicious, the rooms were spacious, clean and the beds very comfortable and the continental breakfast exactly what we needed to set us up for 8 hours driving south.||||On the return leg 7 days later we were greeted like old friends and our 2 boys played happily in the garden with a few other children who were staying. My youngest and I hiked up the local Tor (Mont Ligo) and enjoyed spectacular views, before returning for another "transporting" meal around the communal kitchen table with 3 other families. Stop overs simply do not get better than this - it was perfect. ||||We hope to return again and again in the years to come - thank you so much Jean Michel and Elizabeth.

Fantastique havre de paix! Le calme des chambres offrent un repos réparateur. La table d’hôtes partage des plats succulents cuisinés par Elisabeth et Jean-Michel avec les produits de la ferme et du potager. Tout est fait maison et délicieux! Les enfants sont heureux de revenir chaque année pour aider dans les travaux de la ferme et s’enrichir des conseils des hôtes merveilleux! We hebben deze kamer geboekt voor overnachting. Wij kwamen aan zag er allemaal positief uit. Echter toen we bij de kamers kwamen lagen er allemaal beestjes in bed en oud bloed op de lakens. Wij hebben besloten Dat we dit niet hygiënisch vonden en zouden onze weg eerder vervolgen. Op het moment dat we bij de auto kwamen was de eigenaar aangekomen met een groot stuk ijzer. Hij schreeuwde naar ons dat als we niet zouden betalen hij onze auto's kapot zou slaan. Wij gaven aan dat we de politie zouden bellen. Mevrouw gaf aan dat het geen probleem was aangezien ze goed waren met de politie. Deze overnachting wilde we eerst boeken via airbnb maar mevrouw wilde het niet via de site van airbnb doen aangezien ze anders bemiddeling moest betalen. Wij waren met een grote groep dus hebben het via hun eigen website gedaan. Mensen let alsjeblieft op dit is absoluut GEEN aanrader

Maria und Bernd Siemen Wir waren 11 Nächte zu Gast im La Tour de Giry, diesem mit viel Liebe und Aufwand von Elisabeth und Jean-Michel restaurierten ehem. Schlößchen und bäuerlichen Herrenhaus. Wir wurden sehr, sehr herzlich empfangen. Es war eine Freude, dieses Haus und seine Geschichte kennen zu lernen. Die Zimmer sind sauber, gepflegt und frisch. Mit einem guten Frühstück und vor allem dem abendlichen köstlichen 5-Gänge Menü - hergestellt aus Produkten vom eigenem Hof, aus dem Gemüsegarten und der Region -, war die Versorgung bestens. Beeindruckt hat uns, dass man sich mit den Gästen und Gastgebern zum gemeinsamen Abendessen in einem historischen Saal trifft. Diese abendliche Unterhaltung bei gutem Essen und einem guten Glas Wein hat einfach Spaß gemacht. Elisabeth und Jean-Michel, vielen Dank für Eure ausgezeichnete Bewirtung und Herzlichkeit. Der Aufenthalt wird auch dank Eurer vielen Tips und Vorschläge für uns ein unvergeßliches Erlebnis in Eurer schönen Bourgogne bleiben.
